I originally was going to just get a strip of brushed aluminium to go across the front to give the blaster back her symmetry, but I found a |___| shaped piece of plastic amongst my hoard of crap that looked like it might work.
After a bit of buggerising around with the way it sits I managed to get it to slide in and out nicely and hold 2 tapes as well. I know the orignal held 3, but I'm still deciding if I want to risk wrecking the plastic drawer in hacking it further to make it fit 3 as I don't have a replacement. Currently it needs sides added to match the guide holes on the outside, but that's a bit too hard currently. It doesn't fall out though, and is nice and solid, so I'm happy for now.
The front facsia copped the reflection off the table but it is a perfect match to the other surfaces. It's actually a strip of the stuff that gets engraved and is black underneath the metallic veneer. It's nice and thick and easy to attach and cost about US$3 for a length that gave me 3 attempts to get it right in case I ruined it the first time... which I did! But got it right on the second attempt.
The drawer's covered in this brushed aluminium effect selfadhesive plastic that looks nice and blends pretty well.
I'll play some more with it over the weekend, but I'm content for now.
Rock On.
Very nice, Rick! Now, can you make about 100 of 'em?
very nice indeed!!...just an added suggestion, maybe you can glue some small pegs in the cassette holes or create some side guides on the side of the cassettes to hold the cassettes in place so they wont shift...just a thought...
Glue, you did not even begin to get enough recognition for this piece of crafty work! A-1 Job! If you would be willing to share details please pm me or send some more pics to vaughn.john@yahoo.com
Very nice work you did there.
Johnny
rick - a layer or two of foam tape would eliminate some rattles from the both your drawer and from the tapes.
