Well it powers up, but the switch will not stay in the "ON" position - a spring tension brings it back to "off".
What can be done and is access to the switch difficult ? If I need a new switch, I'd really like to keep the factory toggle lever to keep it looking original. These 580's are really nice units.
Got it working....it was out of alignment. A second issue has come up, sometimes when it's playing on FM (not AM)the audio just cuts out and the tuning meter drops to zero...no sound anywhere on the dial. Then by itself it comes back to life five or ten minutes later and sounds great. manipulating the switches has no effect, it more like a ciruit is going in and out ?
I think this Sony is worth getting working right, it's a really nice boombox.
