I hadn't played my VZ 2000 in a couple of months, so last night I gave it a workout and the record player needles won't activate. The record spins like it is supposed to but the needles won't move on either side a or b. So I am kind of bumming about it. It's always played great in the two years I have had it. Does anyone have any ideas what to look for? Thanks!!!

There are 2 motors for the record section. One is for the turntable and the other runs the needles via a belt and a pulley and wire system.

It could be either the belt or the motor. Have you taken one apart before?

No, I haven't taken mine apart before. So maybe I can get in there and find a broken belt? I actually reached under and felt the pully wire, that made me think there wasn't a belt. I am hoping this belt is the problem. How do you get to it the best way?

If you are only looking to remove the turntable, use the guide to remove the springs at the bottom (Section 2 of the guide) and then open the turntable door and the are 2 more screw top left and right (All in all 6 screws)

The turntable will then be able to be lifted out, still be attached (via) wires and will be functional allowing you to see what is or isn't moving/working.

I tend to lay it on its back, remove the screws and then gently stand it back up and carefully pull the whole turntable out. You can see what I mean here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FMAEVbDaag

Thanks for this info - does anyone know where to get the correct belt/part number for the belt that operates the needles movement? I want to get this belt in hands before opening up the big gal.
