Well, the saga of my GF-8989 has come to completion! It was an effort to get this radio as the seller became ill and it took a good couple of months before his wife managed to get her sent to me. When she arrived the right woofer was annihilated unfortunately, magnet cracked and broken. So she's been sitting on my shelf for the last 6 months while I tried to find a replacement.
Then legendary s2go member AZA discovers a busted up GF-9292 in his vast collection and graciously donated me his speakers from it. An hours work later and my 8989 is CRANKING like nobody's business! And she looks BOSS as hell with those oversize chrome dustcaps. Thanks a bunch AZA, they're the perfect fit for an 8989, no idea if they sound any better as I wasn't able to enjoy her in stereo before but she definitely sounds very good now.
Thanks again AZA!

very kool. i need to get another 8989 i miss that box. jlf you still got it?
way to go glue!!!
The 8989 is a mighty cool looking box as stock, but with those speakers it's just out of this world.
One of the most classic looking boxes in my opinion.
