When i turn the unit on the radio on the left channel is lower than the right and a bit scratchy.I have cleaned all the sliders.This does not happen when i play an lp or cassette,but if i turn the power off and on the sound will come back clear and than fade on the left.After 5 minutes everything seems to be normal.Any thought?

it sounds like you have a dirty power switch ,or one with intermittent contact .

i would also clean the function selector switches .

Hey Flip,

ist 99.9999% the funtion switches.
This is almost always the case with these units.

But the're not so easy to get to. They are actually meant to be "sealed switches" but it is possible to get the spray into them.
You'll have to remove the white plastic chassis (7 screws) with the tuner, and tape assembly on it.
