I knew when I got her that the dial light wasn't going, and not having seen one in action I wasn't too perturbed. Until AZA showed me his SK-550 all lit and it inspired me to get the light fixed asap!
I'm still in two minds as to whether I'll keep the clear/blue look or use the green filter off the original on the LEDS. I'm not usually one to break with traditional looks but the blue/clear goes just beautifully with the silver and blue accents on the radio to my eye.
The light's just an LED 'Automotive Courtesy Light' (light that goes on when the door opens, I imagine) with the round fuse style casing removed so it fitted properly.
Theres an issue that it dims slightly in time with the bass on higher volumes, but it's small potatoes. I think it's a gorgeous design for a radio all round and I'm very happy to be able to enjoy her exceptional aural and now visual quality. She looks as good as she sounds, now all cleaned up and performing like a star!
Thanks muchly for the inspiration AZA.
Rock On.
It looks really great! My Marantz PMS-7000 dial light dims slightly when you turn the volume up too,so I would say that is normal.
I really like the styling of the 550 and it sounds great too IMHO.
Yours is looking very sweet Gluecifer ! Looks like you picked up a nice one ! Good idea with the blue on blue by the way, i like it.
Great job
