anyone own one? that they can crack open and kindly tell me whats the wattage and sharp part number stamp on the back of the magnet woofer?...would greatly appreciate the help...all the best and regards...

One of mine quit, and I had to replace them with the woofers from a 3D-88 Hitachi, and add real tweeters. Totally worth it, the improvement is marked. Its a better box than I ever gave it credit for.

There's room for a bigger magnets than the original, and I had 8 ohm speakers in there for a while, and it still had sufficient reserve to drive them to high levels.

I hated to spoil the originality, but here in the UK, we're not too well catered for on the spares side of things.

hi Blaster, actually i have no 8989, i just knew the number of the speaker, as far as i know not every Sharp speaker has wattage mark on the magnet, for example GF-666 - has, and GF-555 doesn't have, 9292, 9595 do not have those marks as well, i believe it depends on the date/consignment, sometimes they marked speakers, sometimes - not.
i think 8989's woofer has no more than 5-6 watts max.
