Adding tweeters to my 920T...

jovie - 2008-07-26 21:08

As some of you may know, the Lasonic TRC-920 "T" has single full range drivers and no tweeters.I am going to put a set of tweeters from a standard TRC-920 into my "T" version.Doesn't the standard 920 have something between the woofer and tweeter to filter out the lower frequencies?I need to know the piece and its specifications if I'm hoping to get similar performance from my retrofitted "T".Also,is there any other additional pieces I'm needing to get this done successfully? Thanks...

You need the crossover caps that are attached to the tweeters:

Thanks Monolithic! Is there a way around that if I don't have the crossover caps?I've secured tweeters. However,my "T" version never had crossover caps because it has never had any tweeters.

The caps will keep mid and low frequencys from destroying your new tweeters .
Hopefully they will come with the caps.

You're welcome. Smile

I don't know what to tell you... I guess you could damage the tweeters without 'em, but then again, I wrecked the tweeters in that picture with 'em due to having the volume cranked to the max for an hour or so...

You could try to get your hands on some parts from here: http://www.partsexpress.com/crossovers.cfm?FTR=crossove...630&CFTOKEN=49302265 I wouldn't know what to get but maybe somebody else here can help you out. Wink

Jovie Caps are pretty easy to come by. You will simply need to determine what frequencies need to be cut and then you can search according to that criteria. Radio shack may even have em'!
