Lasonic parts swap?

jovie - 2008-07-24 09:04

I'm not real confident opening up boxes. However,There is a repair guy in town that will help me with things that are not too adventuresome. Some time ago I acquired the pictured Lasonic 931 with freely rotating band selector and function switches. The box sitting on top of my 931 is a 920T which is fully functional. The "T" version of the 920 actually has fake tweeters and not very good sound. For this reason I am considering taking the good switches from the 920 to put into the 931 to get it functioning properly.Does anyone know if these switches would work on the 931?I'd like to get an idea before I take them to the shop.

my guess is they are the same, I've been seeing that most companies don't deviate from what works. The switchs are 3 position is it seems and most likely will be an exact match........disclaimer: purely an educated guess.

Suggestion: the 920T appears to be in excellent condition regardless of the sound. It is much harder to find a 920T than it is to find a 931. Why not wait for a crapper 931 w/ a good switch and pick it up cheap? Problem solved plus then more spare parts.

kittmaster-your guess carries a lot of weight in my book.Disclaimer acknowledged also.

bashngu-That may be a good idea.Actually I had thought of waiting to get a set of working tweeters from a standard 920 to take care of the "T"s sound issue. The problem is that 931s always go for so much money even in shabby condition.I will likely have to spend as much for those parts as some spend for entire working boxes from other makes.

Perhaps, but your odds of finding a cheap crappy 931 are much better than finding a 920T in any condition and I dont think another 920T would be any cheaper. Just my 2 cents. I hate seeing complete boxes torn down for parts.

You could post in the wanted section for a switch.....i know there are a lot of crappy lasonics that are parts condition......maybe you get lucky and keep both?

I wish those 920T's were "common"... I'd like to cop one of those! Cool
