Problem with Aiwa CA-W10

chordeater - 2008-12-01 14:37

Hello,

I won recently an Aiwa CA-W10 on eBay. Here is a link to the specs: http://recallsharp.ru/index.php?page=Catalog&action=show_item&id=29

The case is that it is supposed to be in perfect function, but really the speakers shows a bad contact. Anyone knows this unit and its speakers connecting mode?
It's very rare for me, no cables, no conectors, and I don't understand how it works and why it not work well. When I tapp on the speakers (almost knock) there is a position where sounds OK, but it's not easy to find it.

When I manage to do it, it sounds good/very good.

Regards.

Nodoby knows this kind of conection?

I don't know how say that in English ... I'll try to be clear ...

There's a chance that no wires, but a header of contacts in both, front and case that get connected when you close the BBX.

I remeber my first recorder, an old philps .. I get confused because there wasn't any wire linking the front (that had the speaker) and the rest of the device.

Near the speaker there were two contacts, like springs, that pulled against two copper points in the board when the front where put in it's place ... No bad idea .. this recroder where early 70's.

yes chordeater just like success said the contacs are on the side of the box when you push in the speakers they make contact i have the aiwa ca-100h with the side contacts you have to make sure they are clean and stick out a bit

also --that box , like all the 3 piece boxes,
can be set up with the speakers spread out --
and NOT connected to the side contacts --

so - to make sure that both the speakers and your amp section is fine --run a wire set -- from each speaker into the speaker jacks on the center section.

Oh, what a great idea, I didn't think on it! I was looking on the back of the Aiwa, and saw two screws on each speaker and two speaker outputs that I don't recognice (not seems RCAs, not cropped wire ...). I'll post you a picture next week, I'll be away till Thrusday.

Best regards.

I've found some pictures on eBay:

What type of connectors I need?

redbenjoe - 2008-12-06 06:22

you need the 1/8 plugs (like headphones -- but mono)

Thanks a lot!!

This Aiwa is one of the best sounding bboxes I've ever heard, and is probably the best Aiwa. I'm only looking for the best sounding units and I think this is one that is worth to get it.

Best wishes.
