Hey,
today my M70 arrived and I´m pretty happy.
The description said tapedeck not tested so I was warned, that it might not be working at all. Surprisingly the belts seem to be fine. But I just have sound on the right chanel. On the left speakers (woofer and tweeter) there is just a loud noise. When I level the volume for this side down: it´s still making that noise for about a second and that it´s quiet. The right chanel is playing fine without any noise and with good sound.
In radio-mode all bands play perfect on both sides. No noise, good tuning and balanced sound.
Before I dive into this project, maybe you have some suggestions where to start?

try spraying some contact cleaner on the record playback switch, its an ease first thing to try
Just so you know.... "not tested" means "doesn't work". It is right up there with other sure things like death and taxes.
Yeah I know, but the price was good and beside that it´s in good condition. The price for a mint unit is to high for my small wallet at the moment
Okay, one antenna is missing completly.
@geoff: thanks. Do you mean the play/record button?
DRMZ:
Do you need an antenna? I think I have one, but it's going to be mixed up with lots of others in a drawer - if you do, can you measure/describe it precisely and I'll see if I can find it. Send me a PM.

its located on the main pcb, its about 3 inch in length half inch wide and got lots of legs solderd to the pcb, it moves inside and conected to the tape deck with a metal rod or plate
If you want, press REC & PLAY and then STOP several times.
If the failure dissapears ... you need to clean the record/play switch.

Thanks again, guy´s.
I will open it for cleaning anyways, so I will look out for this switch.
@Ewen: I can take a picture and PM it to you with the size, when I´m at home.
OK DRMZ - the measurements (full end to end) + number of sections in the aerial should help me identify it.

Hi Ewen-Do you possibly have a cassette screw for the cover for a M70?(There's 2 screws that hold the cassette door on-Outside)Need 1!
That's all I need to make my M70 mint!
Anybody out there have one?
I'd appreciate it-Thanks-Ghettoboom777.
Sorry - if I had one you could have it GB777. Literally the only M70 part I have is a single aerial as have replaced both with a (99% match) matching pair. Good luck - post in the wanted and see what gives..
Just a little update:
I had lots of work to do in the last week but finally I found some time yesterday to have a closer look at the m70.
Good news, the fix pushing play/record a few times worked very good. I have sound on both speakers in tape mode now.
And there was something loose inside. I heared it, when I moved the box. Guess what I found inside? The second aerial!
The plastic parts (where the screws go in) were broken of and the aerial slipped inside I guess.
So I glued these plasticparts to the back again. Voila.
Finally I´ve got a not mint but fully working M70 for 110 Euros. No parts missing, nothing else broken - was not a bad deal in my eyes.
I will post some pictures soon, when cleaning is done.
that is a great deal! Congrats! Great work!
