I got a nice Toshiba today at Goodwill.I brought it home and plugged it in and the cassette heads engage and play,it fastforwards and rewinds perfectly,but no sound or anything.The same is true of the radio and the auxillary inputs.I tryed headphones and there is no sound there either.When you turn the unit on there is a noise like static sometimes. I checked all connections inside,they all look fine.Any sugestions. [URL=[URL=http://imageshack.us]

Maybe a dirty selector switch? I'd definitely shoot some cleaner in all of them and give them a vigorous workout. If that didn't help, I guess I'd pull out the meter and start testing the path...

It looks exactly the same as an RT-S782. I wonder what the differences are?

I think the RT-S782 has longwave where the RT-S781 does not.
