Old tv's built in to stereo's

I have seen a few old stereo/radio type things with in built tv's on ebay uk recently and always the description says that the tv works.
I was under the impression that the entire uk had changed over to digital and therefore an analogue tv signal can not be picked up anymore...Is this correct and if so how can the tv be working?

Not quite. There are still a few areas like London and Northern Ireland which aren't due until 2012 to switchover. So technically the device can still receive a public broadcast signal. After 2012, well... quite difficult to use really.

Herts still runs analog as my brother got a battery powered portable and it still picks up signal and shows a picture on its tiny screen.

Thats a shame that they'l be obsolete soon enough, the old ones look pretty cool.

CRT's are also the only ones that run light gun games, new digital LCD tvs cant due to the scan rate being wrong.

You could theoretically still keep them in use by using a freeview set top box such as a Humax F2-Fox T, this has a RF OUT. Plug that into the RF IN on the stereo, tune the stereo's TV to it and there you have it.
