What model were you referring to? I have an Panasonic RX-5500.

Don't know much except my 5500 model seems one of most dense heavy quality feel for its slim factor size.

It also excels in mid-range mostly.

It is one of slimmest of its size and I read somewhere it started a new style trend as I have seen many look alikes from this specific design.

Not sure about National versions except that name more prevalent outside US.

Anyone?, correct me if I'm wrong.

there are many, many National Panasonic RX5xxx series ghettoblasters
*Lussard from Police Acadamy*

My fave is the 5250 - which trounces the 5500 easily in terms of audio quality and features.

Most of the were part of the PLATINUM range

be more specific please

I am a Panasonic fanboy - and think their decks are some of the more refined

About RX 5000 series :

It's maybe an old topic but I still would like to reply.

I've luckily acquired few models from this national great series. Among the 5xxx boxes except the 5350 which is more of the 7xxx series I think the best one is the 5700, looks and souds very good. The 5400 and 5600 are also very nice on sound. I heard that the 5500, 5250 and 5150 are all good too but have not see them though. And ofcourse the 5620 is very nice indie.

We can't consider these ones as series.

1. There are the cheapest ones, basic boxes, such as 5020 or 5100, etc, and high end radios with "5" in their model number, so they are from the different series, no doubt.

2. A simple example - which one is "higher", 5400 or 5350? Of course, 5350 is more complicated, and more expensive radio, but it has lower model number. It's another confirmation, we can't put them in the same categorie or series.

3. it would be more correct to say 50**, 51**, 53**, etc, series. But then again, there is no strong hierarchy in the models numbers. Because there are higher models, but with lower model number.
