Can you please help me fix my boomer?

Hello all!
I foolishly shorted out my old boombox by fiddling with an exposed power cord. Thankfully I didn't get hurt, but the thing don't work no more. I am hoping it has an internal fuse that I can replace. It's a Magnavox AW 7595 "Turbo Bass Generator."
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ira W

Could have blown the fuse or some resistors along the power rail path, hard to say.
Where are you located ? If you are near a member they may be willing to help you out.
Try and get hold of the schematic.

try it with batteries.
If it works OK then it'll probably be the input fuse having done it's job & protected the boomer.
If it has a DC input, try that as well.

Thanks for the advice, you two. I am in a suburb of Seattle in Washington State, US, the city is called Burien. Where might I look for a schematic?
I will take a look and see about DC input/batteries.
Thanks again.

I think shorting out the power cord would probably blown your power strip or house circuit breaker, or wall outlet, more so than the boombox...

Hi Maxx,
THanks for the reply. I am curious to learn more about what might have happened from someone who knows more about electronics. All I know is that I had an exposed power cord that I was jiggling, and I saw a big flash come from it. After that, I took the boombox in to try a brand new power cord at radio shack, and it wouldn't turn on.
Thanks much,
Ira
