I was messing around inside one of my boomboxes today (Helix 4636) and I noticed some sort of strange "grease" on the gear that controls the cassette door opening. But it has the opposite effect of any other grease or lube; it slows the gear down and makes it turn slowly, thus causing the "soft-eject" feature for the cassette door. The "grease" was a clear color and kind of the same thickness as vaseline.

Anybody know what this is called, or what I'm even talking about?
