Issue with Sharp VZ 2000 (45 speed)

migsta10 - 2013-02-05 16:09

Hey all.

I'm hoping someone can share light on this issue I'm having.

My beloved vz 2000 slows when I switch from 33 to 45.

At 33 speed... the music is perfect. Plays perfectly for hrs and hrs. At 45... it's a different story. Plays well for a good 30 seconds, then the music slows dowwwwnnnn!

PLEASE HELP!!!

thanks to all.

Sounds like the turntable belts are slipping and need replacing. First thing to do is replace belts.

Yep I'm with docs on that one...
Be very carefull when you undo the fixings for the turntable as it will fall forward and snap the circuit board behind as it has a wire attached that you need to disconnect!

Thanks guys for your response.

The thing is... I've replaced the belt. Wasn't easy

The vz 2000 is near new... just this annoying speed disfunction.

Maybe I have the wrong belt size? If so, what size should I be looking out for?

Thanks again guys.

Brilliant forum.

Tracking belt is the smaller belt? if so... yes. But have not greased the pulleys/gears. I'll give this a go. Thanks man.

did you change the tracking belt ?   also the grease on the pulleys /gears goes hard and needs cleaning off and re-lubing .

You could try adjusting the turntable's 33 & 45rpm speed on the circuit board inside. First you have to take off the two metal plates on the bottom of the vz. 4 screws each. They'll pop off and have a large spring attached to each. Then take two large screws out of the back. They'll be in the two biggest holes, on the left and right, in the middle section of the back. Then open the turntable and take off the 4 screws on the back plastic panel. After all that, gently slide the turntable out. It will still be attached with wires. Tilt it forward to see the circuit board. Close to the middle of the board, to the right of 2 colored sets of wires, you'll see two small silver discs. You can put a jeweller's screwdriver, or something with a small point, into the slot in the middle of these discs and adjust the speed of the turntable. One disc does 33, the other does 45. Maybe this will do the trick.
