ok guys so having a problem with my recently aquired gf9090....here goes....

TAPE SECTION

everything is working,going round,ff,rw,apss,the lot,but-no sound?????

REMEDIES TRIED

cleaning all switches,checking connections are good,the play record x10 test

OBSERVATIONS SO FAR

when you press on the play head you get massive feedback,loud humming....also a little of the same when you touch the pich roller too....this is using my finger and obviously no screwdrivers or other tools etc.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS.....

play head worn out?heads become magnatised/demagnatised?

have you cleaned the edit switch ?   also check the black earth wire from the deck to the board .

you sure do acquire some basket cases Andy lol

its the heads....they either need demagnetising or the play head itself has gone....so the best idea is to find a donour deck complete and install it into this direct i think....and its actually pretty sharp (no punn intended azz bro lol)if it wernt for the deck its actually very nice condition

i might have a scrap 9090 knocking about andy ,  when i get home i will have a look and let you know
