Hi there, just picked up the above cheap to go in my man den that's full of old bmxs. I just have a couple of problems its not loud at all in fact its way too quiet and the 3d button does fook .

 Any ideas gurus ?

Have you opened it?

Post a picture of '"Your's" to here as there is a lack of picture's of this model

If Opened, have you cleaned the control switch's with Deoxit and air?

After a thorough cleaning & picture's ( to see what you are seeing ) then post back to here

The 3D30 is fairly simple inside - manual decks, analog tuner, etc.

First, plug some headphones in & check it works OK through them. If yes, so far so good, the problem is further on than the pre-amp stage. Either way, it's time to take it apart. Then check all the connectors are clean (detach & reattach), all the wires attached. Next, clean all the switches & sliders with some switch cleaner:

That doesn't look at all bad inside.

It certainly won't do any harm to resolder it back to where it should be.

Unfortunately, without a circuit diagram it's impossible to tell whether this is the problem & I'm not up with the best repairers with their oscilloscopes, voltage lines & replacing bad components...

Cheers isolator, Kim going to have to replace the capacitor entirely as its snapped off too close to get a purchase on it with solder again, so I've just found some 47uf 10v capacitors on eBay, they will be with me by the end if the week, I will report back soon with a hopefully good news update, otherwise the electrical tester will have to come out to check everything 

So replaced the capacitor with the broken leg today, damn fiddly job, but done in the end, unfortunately ido didn't fix the problem, and the 3d button still doesn't work, back to the drawing board.

and if anyone wants any 10v 47uf electrolyte capacitors, I have 9 left over!!!!

Ha ha, well I've got two, and the little toshiba needs belts for the tape deck, which I've not gotten round to doing, and it's got a crackly volume knob, here they are in the corner of the man den

Replace the one with the broken lead, would check the others to. Capacitors don't have to look bad, to be bad!! Plus notice the green corrosion around the lead of the capacitor, so it leaked it electrolytic, which had a a acid effect and will destroy traces on the PCB, plus the capacitor will have a High ESR, or dead short in the circuit causing all kinds of issues. Beside looking at them, you also need a ESR meter to truly tell if capacitors are bad, not all the time you will notice leak or bulge, swell, so they have to be tested. Chances are if one is bad, their going to be others that are bad and low volume would be a sign of bad capacitors. if there was white noise, then chances are would be other components and you would have to trace out the defective component.

Cheers retrodos, but I'm no tech head, If I can hit it with a hammer I can fix it, this diddly electrical stuff is all new to me and your post is a touch confusing for a circuitry noob
