Hitachi trk 8200 losing left channel

i purchased a poor condition unit off ebay some years ago for spares. When I opened it up, it seemed in good shape and though cosmetically poor, I got it fully working. I planned to turn it into a custom unit for my daughter who loves using my cherished 8200.
my problem is when I got started yesterday there was no left channel (no sound or movement on the left vu). When I leaned it back and forth the channel returned. before starting work I would like to iron out this problem, does anyone have any pointers what to check first (the pot is fine).

hi there , with the front off the 8200 look to the left side of the box you will see the function switch carefully remove the long wired cable that goes to it be careful not to break any of the four legs on the cable , the give the switch a good blast of switch cleaner then work the switch back and forth plenty of times then let it dry re-attach the cable sure this will fix this issue
