Hello everybody!

I got an Aiwa ca-30, that didnt work.

I decided to get it fixed, it needed new belts, i got the belts for play/record and for the counter.

i replaced the belts, but now i got this problem

When its off its case, it plays ok, when i put its case on it doesnt.

The play belt, touches the case in one spot . 

Can i upload an image to help me out figure where i must put the belt?

Now i got another problem, i dont know what i messed up.

I got a buzz noise when i push the play button. 

i cant see whats wrong with that,the buzz issue might be a partly trapped wire somewhere or static build up due to going in therescratching my head to be honest

What about the belts?

did you clean the record bar with switch cleaner ?  they can cause a lot of problems .  is the deck sitting square on the chassis .   also make sure the earth wire is attached to the deck and no wires are trapped .   these decks dont give much trouble as a rule apart from rw/ff not working properly .

Whats the record bar? I cleaned some parts with the contact cleaner but about 2-3 days ago. If its this the problem can it be fixed?

when you lift the tape deck up you will see a long thin switch /bar behind it on the board give it a good squirt of switch cleaner and work it in and out many times this should help.

The buzzing noise is now gone 

But it seems that the right mechanism that rolls the tape is not moving.

I dont know whats going on, this thing is possessed 

Can someone help me with the belt?

This is how i have put the belt and it plays ok without the case. But on the spot that is red is where the case touches the belt and makes it stop working.

that belt is on wrong mate !  you need to take the deck out the belts are under there not on the top of the deck .   only the tape counter belt goes on top .      just to add see if you can get a service manual for it off the net it will make things easier for you to figure out whats what . 

when i opened it the broken belt was on top. thats why i puted it that way.

Its hard to find a manual on the net for free, one i found was from a seller from ebay but its expensive. Thanks a lot guys

ha, saw the last pic before reading Dels comment and thought wha?!?...that belt is just randomly chucked on lol   if only rebelting was that easy

Yeh as Del says need a manual or someone who has the same box to have a look at theirs...thats the problem with melted belts you've got nothing to copy.

Tho if you take a pic of the back of the deck we might be able to work it out for you

sorry to say but that looks knackered...the whole left tape spool is missing and just sitting there...sorry i can't be of any help

And then how does it plays the tapes?

because the right tape spool is there the left tape spool is at the bottom in totally the wrong place...trust me i have a similar unit...and its not meant to be like that....

Only one part was in there when i opened it, a white plastic piece.

The unit doesnt seem like it has been broken or anything from the outside.

Do you think that someone opened it before, and took parts?

See now I'm confused...the left spool looks in the right place to me?...tho I bow down the greater wisdom of RR as he's opened many more boxes than I have

The long side is about 2,5 cm

the spool is not missing the shaft to the left is a pulley a belt goes on for the tape counter  .   that plastic piece is for the record function on the tape  when record is pressed.

thats what I thought...other than I had no clue what the spare part was for lol
 

so how come there is only one spool....correct me if im wrong but every deck i have seen has 2.....this is the strangest deck i have ever seen..if im wrong

Im thinking that the manuals may have the schematics only and not this thing that i need

If when you talk about spools you mean this things that go inside the holes of the tape, there are 2, none is missing, maybe is the way that i took the foto and you cant see the one, because it doesnt got a big black ring like the one on the right side

The service manuals show how the belts go on the deck, how to dismantle it and how to remove the deck etc. as well as the electronic schematic detail that you may need now or later.

If anything else occurs with it you have it to use again and again.
