toolman - 2013-07-10 12:39

Hi

I´ve got this Hitachi 3d super woofer, when using the tuner the volume is low, but when i use line the volume is fine, i know that the 3d can play pretty high. ( adjustÏng the amplifire so radio ad line in is the same?)

Thanx

You could try sending a PM to isolator42 who is Mr 3D. Or maybe he'll pop in and see the thread! Your thread title should work

Two words: switch + cleaner

Yep...switch / contact cleaner will remedy most issues like this as corroded contacts can cause a million different problems...luckily switch cleaner is cheap and dead easy to use.  Just open the 3D up and spray some into each switch or slider then work the switch 30 or 40 times to clean it.  Let is dry then power her up.

Good idea to do the headphone socket and the record bar too...the record bar is a long thin metal bar on a circuit board usually behind the deck...it has a little slider that moves up and down in the metal housing...squirt some cleaner in and work the thing back and forth a load...job done

I've had boxes that did nothing but buzz load start working perfectly with just some good old switch cleaner.  Use Servisol or Deoxit...depends where you are in the world as to what brand you can get

You need to do every switch in the box...volume, balance, tone, power, function etc etc...every one can have seemingly unconnected effects on the sound so clean every single one

I third the motion for contact cleaner! My 3d's switches wouldn't even slide when I first got it, they still don't since I haven't cleaned it yet lol. Too many boxes to fix and too little time. I think Deoxit makes cleaner specifically for slider switches too.

Hi Again

I cleaned every contact, but no luck (

is it possible to adjust the volume inside( with a screwdriver ) the 3d, to make it louder?

Thanx Again

Sorry toolman, don't have any more knowledge than switch cleaning for your 3D. My past experience with lower volume on one side was always the selector switch but that was on other brands.

northerner - 2013-07-12 09:20

Well 90% of these issues are down to dirty contacts. After that you're into dodgy components which is a whole different (and much trickier) ball game.

Did you cleaned every single slider, socket and switch including the record bar as suggested? If so you're likely snookered as I don't believe there is any sort of general volume balancing dial internally!
