seb968 - 2013-12-03 13:23

I really hope you can fix the ones I sent you Si! Could be another M-70 out there that can be saved!
michiel - 2013-12-03 13:31
Yeah, wanted to get some extra spare ones for my other 70s. But from now I have to be very careful with those original sliders on those boxes!
seb968 - 2013-12-03 13:34
Maybe, as Si says, they will become available again in the future; I hope so! How many M-70's do you have?

Nice One!

Think I have same ferrite antenna problem as you had Seb ... need to open up the box to check but it just arrived through post with rattle inside as if something medium-weight-ish is dangling by a cable ... hoping it just needs a cable tie fix like yours did ... wish me luck ... daren't power it on with that currently on the move! Will tackle some time over the weekend along with a deep clean too ... got a M70 at last ... woooooh ... yay!
michiel - 2015-05-08 08:36
Wow, Great you got one JT!! Hope it's an easy fix!
seb968 - 2015-05-08 12:23
Nice one JT. A tye wrap will fix it mate. You are wise to do this sooner rather than later! Hope you enjoy your machine, they are a good solid unit!

Well, Seb, Michiel ... it was an easy fix to stop it rattling but not sure I will be getting many quality SW stations ... basically the ferrite rod had split in two and so one half had left its holder and was dangling on one side and the other half did the same on its side ... for the moment I have slotted them back into their halves of the holder and pushed them together where they broke and used electrical tape to hold the two halves together ... so it no longer rattles but SW bands seem lacking in stations ... but I'm not too worried missing them as FM is my main radio setting
My next task on this one is fixing the right channel volume slider as it only plays really quiet until the top of the slider, when it then suddenly blasts out ... I have ordered a variety of Deoxit cleaner/lubricant tubes (as I don't have good experience of Servisol on sliders) and plan to remove and dismantle the slider to give it a thorough clean ... I will also check the others whilst I am in there ... fingers crossed the slider is not completely fubar

Hi Jt. The ferrite rod is for medium wave reception matey. Telescopic antenas are used for short wave. Try the short wave fine tune knob (locarlocated just below the main tuning knob) This may help pull in a few stations.

Thanks for this - always getting them muddled - actually, medium wave worked fine ... so maybe it was just that my aerial was not extended/oriented properly (ooh-err! )
seb968 - 2015-05-11 16:13
The fact that you have pushed the ferite rod together will have helped a gtreat deal And ooh er yes you must extend your arial!

JT, it's worth to rebuild the sliders anyway. Even if they are just a bit dirty and don't go smooth. I never had success with spraying any kind of stuff in the M70 sliders. Now I just open them anyway for full clean and, if needed, repair. Did one yesterday coincidentally... Funny enough I still had uneven channels after the rebuild, but found out later that there was a crack in the loudness board

I just found this , great narration Seb.It feels like I found an old magazine with good stuff in it.
jt.techno - 2015-05-28 08:53
Thanks for confirming my thoughts Michiel - I have still yet to open it up properly - too much other stuff going on presently but I plan to tackle this one next - once fixed, I can also insert the mod you sent me

I'm guessing you don't mean the board with a working set of volume/recording sliders on it? Sounds more like the tuner board that you are describing
