I got my first mono box today for $6. This lil guy is wicked. It's got quite a bit of wear and the front logo is missing but it sounds great. The antenna is also missing but the reception is still great. And it has shortwave.
I tried googling the brand and model # but all I seem to get is some auction sites from Asia. Weird.
Pix to come after I clean it up.

That is a really nice looking mono, echoes of the Panny RX-5500 styling too.
I'd have that one
Nice score NJR, I love monos from pany.

It also has a voltage changer switch on the back. I'm assuming this was made for the Chinese or Japanese market and somehow got to Canada. Under all the text on the back of the unit is the Japanese translation.
As I know, mats***ita is/was marked their products with a "National Panasonic" logo for selling in Asia, Australia and Europe market, till the end of 80's.
In the Japan the logo was "National"
The last 15/20 years it is only "Panasonic" for all markets.
In Japan still existing 'National" but only for some domestic apliances.
That's quite interesting know-eg. I have a 1980's National Panasonic radio that was sold in Australia (but instead being branded "National Panasonic", it says "National").
Hi AAFussy, that is very interesting.
My National Panasonic RF-5310BA mono box i've got it from uor member AZA from Australia, therefore I think that mats***ita was branded "National Panasonic" there.
Maybe i'm wrong but the last leter in the model number "RF-5310BA" it mean Australia!?
What is the model number of your "National" radio?

Yah the front of mine has a lil square National logo on the left of the tape counter.
There was a logo under the tape counter but its missing.
Great Find!
