sorry guys, no offence, but why u say, these boxes are like wow, cool and so on? Discolite can't work good, couse it's Sharp's GF 777 very bad bootleg. Even if it's on Madonna's video (why not to igore that box only becouse of this fact?). We all know, that this giant Crown is just another bad copy of Lasonic. My mates own same Crown and i know how bad it is, how big, but how empty it is inside. And i am sure that even some nice little mini boomboxes are heavyer and they have better sound quality than this Crown:]. Yes, u can say "matter of taste", but here the taste can be relativ. I think, U need, my friend to look for Other , Realy Well Built Booms (not talking about 777!), models from Aiwa, Hitachi, Sanyo, JVC, old Crown models and so on! Those black plastic super jumbo dinosaurs did not deserve to play your "Serenata metropolitana", Alberto. But maybe it's jut my point of view, don't want to be missunderstood. Only the best wishes from Lithuania and welcome!

Listen... Unless you're asking for advice, don't let ANYBODY tell you what boxes you should or shouldn't have...

Get what you wanna get - REGARDLESS OF QUALITY - and enjoy 'em to the fullest!

Besides, "quality" isn't everything... You can put together a collection of heavy-ass high quality boxes that look impressive but STILL sound like crap.

i used to have a discolite,although the sound was'nt up there with the best,the lights made up for it,they were just amaizing,i used to sit with the lights down low and just watch the lights flashing,i dont think there is any other box thats more entertaining..and my friends loved it too..
i also have a crown,i like it alot,again its not a hard hitter,but it looks nice and it brings back memories of my younger days..
sometimes its not all about the sound..

Enjoy your radio's goffre,they are very nice,and very rare in your part of the world,look after them..

There's a whole lotta high quality boxes out there, but there aren't too many that's "street ready". That Crown and Disco Lite are made for the streets - after all, they're not called "ghetto blasters" for nothing.

And I would know...

I mentioned this elsewhere years ago... Back in 1988, the same dude who owned the Conion C-126 also owned a Disco Lite. They put on an impressive light show - and really - that's what that box is all about.

Like gettoman said, "sometimes it's not all about the sound".

Anyway, we'd grab our boxes and walk thru the hood blasting the latest Hip-Hop tracks at that time and that box would get MUCH attention! Unfortunately for him, his boxes were no match for my 931 'cause when it came time to battle, both of his boxes got blown out!

They're stunning lookers, people are in awe when they see my minty Crown 5100 'in person' I accept the sound is below par when compared to other 'respectable' units, but these are both iconic boxes, very impressive visually and without doubt Goffre78 is a lucky guy to have such a solid start to his collection.

I am sure you will enjoy these boxes to the max but you do have another advantage. Out of all the boomboxes ever made the Discolite probably has the highest rental potential.

Billy the Binman had successfully rented two or three of his boxes for a window display. He rented out some crown boxes to a really high end fashion store in London. Just an idea.

Judging from your posts, you are having lots of fun with you boxes, which is great!
