Thanks allot, guys. Next is Sony CFS 65S

mellymelsr - 2010-03-17 09:04

Very nice work. What did you use for the chrome accents??

brigadier.vytas - 2010-03-17 10:35

thanks, Mellymelsr. I used sticky backed plastic sticker there. I am buying it at house repairing shop, there's lot's of this and other colour stuff. By making "new chrome" u just need to add bigger than u realy need piece on the (clean) surface and then cut away everything u don't need with hobby knife's blade. Sorry for my dumb english, i can make small photosession, if u want, it would be more clear that way. Here's example of one of my speaker rings with new two-pieces chrome (on the top and on the side).

samsnite - 2010-03-17 10:58

HOT STUFF! Mr. Handy Man!

samsnite - 2010-03-17 11:04

You fixed the Biphonic and Rec mute buttons also...

brigadier.vytas - 2010-03-17 13:52

Kiitos, Samsnite!I found biphonic button inside of the box Leaving

mellymelsr - 2010-03-17 19:45

...beautiful speaker rings. What is the brand name of the chrome sticker paper?

brigadier.vytas - 2010-03-18 03:08

German ALKOR-VENILIA is the brand. Sometimes much thicker paper with protective clear foil is available in our shops, but cheaper thin (like ordinary stickers) one is much better to work with. Thick paper is difficult to cut and it is good only for 100% flat surfaces.

phil1212 - 2010-04-03 13:36

Hi Brigadier,
Your skills at repairing a what looked like a worn out box, (pictures 2 and 3 especially) are absolutely spectacular!

Did you use the same chrome adhesive "tape" for the control area as the speaker rings?

I have an old JVC RC-40 where the text has rubbed away from the control area.

brigadier.vytas - 2010-04-03 15:31

Thanks allot, it is not a hard work at all! Phil, yes it is the same-o chrome tape, pls read the first page for more info. This box is making only annoying noises, but it is at technician's office at last. Guy says, power changer and some kind of microscheme is broken, he'll try to find these new things..Can't wait for the results.. I am trying new place for fixing my boxes, couse my old technician is "repairing" my 2 booms like 4 months already. And this new place is about 50 steps from my house:]. New guy's reaction was like "ok, i'll try. But what for u need this thing? U have more of them, u say?? Ehh..why?". :]

andyboombox - 2010-04-06 01:55

yeah nice work brigadier-im feeling your vibe-love the big jvc's.
