Some pics of my growing collection...

mellymelsr - 2010-07-18 18:31

When I started collecting boomboxes a year and a half ago I told the wife I only wanted 3 boxes, which she was ok with. That was before I knew what was still available thanks to ebay, craigslist, garage sales, flea markets, and members here. I now have over 20 in my collection and continue to see boxes I would love to add. Here are some pics of my main boxes that reside in my "Man Cave"...

Excellent color coordination with the tapes! I have one of those spiral tapes too, it's too bad that when you press Play the graphic spins the wrong way.

saxonman - 2010-07-26 01:12

the blockbuster looks like it needs more color.

saxonman - 2010-08-14 09:23

love the coloured JVC's!

monolithic - 2010-08-14 10:22

Honestly, I was gonna say there were no boxes in that collection I don't find visually appealing... until I saw those Panasonics and that Kaboom. Laugh Out Loud

The rest of those boxes are superstars, but that silver Sharp is hittin' hard as hell with those reel tapes! Cool

That was something I did for my daughter to match her room. It has since been repainted back to it's original color....I didn't like the purple either.

I have been very lucky to find very nice boomboxes in good condition and complete working order. The M90 is in perfect condition and 100% working order and the paint does not have a scratch on it...for the right price I would part with it.

Hard to say what the right price would be...don't really have a figure in mind. It would take a very nice offer to consider giving it up though.

I had an M90 in 1982.It cost me £300.....a lot of money then.I had it up to 1995 until my house was Broken into. They stole the M90 & My VCR player.I was very upset at the time.Much, Much, more upset they stole the M90.I have been looking to replace it but have not found any in England even though i bought my in London. That piece of kit was part of my life.I see one on E-bay for $1,600.I would have still had mine.Never would have sold it.You are a lucky man to have one.

I found that spiral cassette tape on ebay. It was relatively cheap several years ago but cassette tape prices have gone up considerably since. Thank you for the wonderful comments.

...my wife surely thinks so!! I was actually lucky to find most of my collection during the recession. The M90 was my most expensive purchase at $725. Found the M70's at about $100 each. Growing up as a poor kid in the 80's wishing for an M70 I knew my parents could not afford, I am now ecstatic to be able to own these works of art today. I definitely have a much greater appreciation for them now.

mraiwa1000 - 2012-05-14 18:37

Wow, I love, Just LOVE the "GE 3-5259" sooooooo much!!!!!

deech - 2012-05-15 05:25

I can totally relate with this mellymelster, and what a fantastic collection of boxes you have.
