Right this has been in the waiting of about near a year
On one of my bike sites i have come to know a guy that finds stuff at recycle centres / dumps
He first told me of a couple of bmx's and then said he had a couple of boxes, when i said what i was looking for - so he sent me a picture, and i have been chasing them ever since
Every time we said for a meet - it got canceled for one reason or other - so this time i had to get a half day off and wait for him to turn up !
well he is two and a half hours away drive - so after half an hour of waiting i get a call from him saying that he is stuck in traffic and not moving - a 18 wheeler has jack knifed and set of fire - so mark had to turn around and make it another day - S%*T
Right sunday after noon and another chance to sort out a meet - so mark makes it and i open the van to show him what i have - it will be a straight swap if all works out
I have a old 83 MTB - no, he says i can keep it
Shimano clip in shoes - yep
a alloy frame, that turns out to be a clude butler - he likes very much (and lets slip that the trip was worth the fame alone) i'm not into the MTB(mountian bike) thing, so have no worry's about letting it go
and then a bag of bike parts
So over to his car boot
first out is a Sharp 8989 (face has some marks but works)
then a PC 150 -(all working and clean)
a sanyo M9990 (needs a good clean but works well)
then a JVC M70 with original carry belt ! (all works - and should clean up well)
and at the back is a Sharp VZ2000 - frickin huge monster (clean - record player doesn't turn ?> but rest works)
So i ask if it is a sraight swap ? and he says yes - so for a MTB frame a pair of shoes and a bag of parts - i get five big boxes - very sweet
Then at a carboot on sunday i see a part box come off a van - a Hitachi - wondering if the speakers are here as well i ask one of the wide boys if he has them ? yer in the back of the van some where - 15 miutes later and no luck ? then some one to the side of me opens a a suitcase and there they are - sweet
so i ask him ho much and he says £20 - i ask if he will take £15 and he says yes - sweeter
it turns out to be a Hitachi 9140E and very MINT - only one crack on the handle to the side wheresome one has over tightened the screw - doesn't notice
I didn't know about the speakers - tired to plug the cables in while the speaker are attached to the main unit - lots of feedback - so i unplug them and still sound is coming out ? take the speaker off and it stops - the catches are the live feed - cleaver stuff indeed - it must have been shut away in a cupboard cos it's so freash looking and inside is squeeky clean
so for a while i hadn't picked up a box in acouple of month due to nothing about - then they seem to jump up at me - and some nice top boxes to have in a collection
the M70 is bloody loud and i can see why it is rated/grailed - at 1 to 2 on the volume it sound loud
the VZ 2000 is bloody big and heavy - for some reason i didn't think it would be this big
The record player doesn't turn - sets down but no turn ? am i doing any thing wrong ? or is the belt gone ? help please !
so now i have to find room for them (and all the others) as i have just moved house and have a new wife (doesn't like boxes !) so i think that the loft will be the new room for them once i have fitted it out (will it take all that weight ?)
all comments and other help is welcome
cheers B
now some pic's

but to the rest of the site - WTF is going on ?
i posted up some nice boxes and i get one comment !!!
I see peeps have looked but that it ? no wonder this site is bloody quiet
pissed off - just a little
hey BENDY, i don,t want you to think im only posting here out of guilt, as it may seem like that after the above post you put up, i genuinely missed this post, as you can see i posted on your 8585 snatch and must of missed this post somehow
that really is an awesome haul there mate, quiet unbelievable story behind it, it,s not everyday that fortune comes your way, great stuff i love it, nice pics too mate
Great swap out, both parties get a great deal and what they want. An M70 as part of the deal is just magic.

jeebus, that m70 is quite a rare score, unusual to find one in such circumstances!
nice to see when its all cleaned up
Awesome collection BENDYCAT!
I especially like that M70 strap.
Very rare!
How does the Hitachi sound ?
Very nice haul. That original M70 strap is very rare. Not often you see 6 boxes like that in one deal.
THAT IS FRICKING COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BENDYCAT I am going to PM you for an eventual offer (if you want)!
What a great haul! Especially an M70 in the UK, rare and valuable boxes, one mans trash...

Doc,they sound wayy better than they look..i had one a few years ago..loud as hell on fire, heavy, has really good bass, pretty cool and accurate needles..i liked the one i had but it was old and real tired, had lots of issues,so i parted it..only ended up keeping the speakers off it..
Excellent Story Bendybike
..on very rare occassions,i sometimes get deals like that,i love it,lots of boxes to play with instead of just one..keeps you busy for a while too..congrats man...
Welcome "From Da Ghetto"
those hitachi's were built like tanks real quality! i had one in the mid 80's at work - never failed once...sadly i left it behind when i left
Well, when it rains it pours!
Great trade! Considering your not into the MTB thing.
BMX might have been another story? Depends on what bike I guess!
Cool!

I agree and I really like the TRK 9140E, it looks like a tactical boombox.
Love the tweeters on that PC150
