Friday afternoon.
There is 2 times in the year a big street festival with flea running.
Only touristic and commercial sellers around.
Impossible to find anything interesting.
Here a streetview:
Had not much time, so fast passing the dealers.
Then i heard some pumping sound.
Impressive.
There was a CD dealer with a boombox under the table.
Wow, a KABOOM blue blinker.
Really strong sound.
But worthless to ask for it, not for sale.
Turned my head around and passed between the neighbour dealers desk.
Looked under the table....
Whoa, a big fat HITACHI!!!
And then the problem!
Have only 30euros left in the pocket.
But i was able to dump the price to 30, so this beauty came with me.
And here it is:
seen this unit a few times in the net.
But never thought it is so big!!
Radio works, tape needs belts
a few splashes from a painter on it, but easy to remove
love the VUs
backside also ok
Knobs, aerial, everything ok on it
never thought i would find on this tiny street flea something like this...
then something disappointing happened.
A young girl came the way, with a boombox bag (like on ebay sold)
I said something like "look, i got the thing that designed your bag"
She looked at me like:
"had no idea this should be such a big radio. I only bought it because i liked the look of it...."
Could it be, young people have no idea about old boomboxes?
Maybe...
The 2nd happen was more likely.
Passed a few recycling containers on the way home.
Hey , what is this one on one container?
Took this poor rampaged LUXOR with me
tapedoor missing, but fully working.
Parting?
Custom job?
Will see...
No probs at all and very nice score congratulations.
finding a HITACHI makes a great change for you VS
congrats.
i have the same box in great condition and fully working, it,s a decent performer, not as big and as good sounding as my 8600, but still a nice box
i first seen the 8200 in a PAUL YOUNG vid called...come back and stay for good this time, that made me want one, congrats again

Yo, the 8600 must be still impressive.
Congrats to this big one.
Those HITACHIs are nice to look.
But i must agree, the size would expect more sound...
i'm thinking about to emigrate to Austria
... in Freiburg (germany) we never have so cool fleamarkets
nice pics. thanks for sharing.

the 8600 just edges the 8200 on sound though with it,s 3 way speakers and has more controls upfront, both nice boxes though
ViennaSound, I've got a version of your Luxor box. Made by Fidelity;
I quite like the look of the speakers on these, and they feel reasonably well built for a basic box, they threw in a bouncy LED VU meter too. I think the tuner surround and face is aluminium as well right? . . .
Nice finds, obviously the Hitachi is the real find out of this pair, very nice.
KND
Hey, thanks kennedy!
Beautiful box, think i will try to save it.
Maybe i can rebuilt the door with another one from my partspenders.
