NevOne collection - pictures updated periodically

nevone - 2011-02-15 23:46

Scored a paladium (not sure about the model number) seems like a senkey aka. Any more info on this model is welcome.

I still have do do some scrubbing on it, but it-s a good shape box. Sorry about the picture quality.

driptip - 2011-02-16 08:20

wow nev one, your collection is growing very fast, good times.

brigadier.vytas - 2011-02-16 23:37

brigadier.vytas - 2011-02-16 23:38

Sankei packed for one of my friends:]

nevone - 2011-02-17 09:30

haha, packed everything, the antenna too! that-s cool!

driptip - 2011-03-02 12:38

have you got any new ones nevone?

nevone - 2011-03-09 12:32

As a matter of fact, i did get one new toy but i am still scrubbing it.

I also got a new vintage amp, in excellent condition. I know it-s not a box, but i post it however, as i am very excited about his sound and i think many of our users like a beautiful piece of technology when they see one.

brigadier.vytas - 2011-03-10 08:07

very nice looking (Marantz !) amp!

nevone - 2011-03-16 00:37

Sorry, did not had time for more scrubbing. However, i present to you the German heavy bomber Universum Senator 8800 Super Stereo.
All works, one vu-meter has the window smashed, will have to find something to replace it. Sounds almost great, definitely above some other high praised boxes.
But enough with the chit chat, enjoy some pics.

nevone - 2011-04-02 02:56

Question: what is better than a Sanyo c7?

Answer: two Sanyo C7, especially when the second one is in mint condition.

And i also got a new Universum, CTR 4083 model.

Enjoy the pictures

Otherwise, i just missed the opportunity to buy a second GF777

brutus442 - 2011-04-02 07:42

What an extrodinary collection! Thanks for pics!

panli - 2011-04-10 12:40

Congratulations NevOne for the ever growing collection! Unfortunately for me, no nice boombox came across lately but, instead, bought cass-decks (strange enough - much easier to find) and so I've spent all the money available for my vintage addiction for the time being.

P.S. Take care about the sensitivity of the DIN input if you want to use it as an amplifier. It's much higher than on RCA's so the standard output level of the sources (mp3,CD, etc.) will probably distort.

nevone - 2011-04-13 02:06

Thank you PanLi.

It-s true, the decks are cheap and you can find tons of them. I believe because they do not serve other purpose than getting signal out of cassettes, while the boomboxes can play radio or use them as line in.

At this moment there are on the Romanian market some sharps, hitachis, sanyos, rather nice boomboxes. I also missed a second GF777 that appeared on mint condition. Well, that-s life i guess. Can-t have it all.

Thank you for the DIN advice. Knew about the Line in vs phono but not about the difference between DIN and RCA. Are you from Bucharest? maybe we can organize a get together or something.

andyboombox - 2011-04-14 04:26

nevOne you have such a fine collection there.....i recently had that hitachi with the accoustic super woofer,a bit too modern but mine came from the recycling centre for free!just picked up a nice big goodmans power master today.....needs a clean and both decks need sorting but a cracking sound.....similar to an hitachi 3d80 i guess.....keep on collecting, bro

panli - 2011-04-14 13:45

@NevOne

Sadly (only for this specific matter ),i'm not living in Bucharest. I'm from Sighisoara. The flea market isn't big here and therefore the offer's very thin . I think you are speaking about the offers on the open flea markets when you say about availability of nice ghetto-blasters.

Well, for now, greetings from Dracula's Country to everybody!

nevone - 2011-04-17 13:46

@andyboomobx: thank you!The big Hitachi is a bit modern for me too but it haves good sound and i got it for next-to-nothing, i transformed the RCA out from his back in RCA in and i-m taking it to every trip a boombox is needed because it does not matter if beer spill on it However, last bbq was a little hard on him, one of the channels died. Did not had yet the time to open it and see what went wrong but i guess it-s fixable.

@Panli, i was talking about the okazii dot ro site. I hope this is not considered as advertising (if it is, then a moderator please erase my comment). I usually sweep the fleas too but usually boxes get to there in very bad condition.

nevone - 2011-04-17 23:53

...and from the category 2 is better than one, here goes my second...777

i-m not quite sure why the dials are different color, maybe someone can shed some light over this?

andyboombox - 2011-04-23 02:46

hey mate im sure you'll get that box fixed-good luck and keep on collecting

nevone - 2011-05-18 23:45

Scored a Panasonic SG 500L. Needs some more cleanning, but for now here are some pics:

toocool4 - 2011-05-19 01:59

Wow nice collection NevOne, love the Sharp one with the built in TV

nevone - 2011-07-14 23:45

What-s new? A Telefunken Hifi Studio 800.
Compared to the Studio 1:
-more portable
-less loud but still louder than a great deal of other boxes
-maybe a little more bass, but less on the mid's
-great sound
-curious one-point speaker attaching system

Here are some pics:

nevone - 2011-07-19 23:11

Scored a Toshiba.

Here are some pics. Nice sound, interesting design, otherwise nothing out of the ordinary.

dragonhead00 - 2011-07-20 04:46

Awesome collection!! Please, keep posting your pics. I'd be so lucky to have the same access to such beautiful examples! Thanks!

bredgeo - 2011-07-28 11:09

Nev,

Did you ever get or come across a knob/switch for your tape selector for your first GF777?????

I could make you one... Let me know.

I am also going to send you a PM just in case you are not following this post to much.

I have 2 GF 777 's too . The European and the other version

The European version has a black tuner dial and the other (most seen version)  has a blue tuner dial. You may have seen that the European version has the LW band and one SW band. The other version has no LW band but 2 SW bands

thebeardedlady - 2011-08-01 12:28

I'd remove body parts to have that collection...

nevone - 2011-09-06 23:38

Hello, it is been a while since i posted on my thread, not having any notable news.

I got a hold of a Panasonic RX-CT900 that haves a nice sound, however a early 90s look, which is not exactly my cup of tea. Here are some pics.

hardmen - 2011-09-07 06:11

That panny has a 90s look, but NICE indeed!!!

Cheers.

I think the Universum is a legit brand of boomboxes. I guess it-s German. Their Senator series is really something, the rest...not so great. I possess 3 Universums, 2 are just cheapos and one looks like a Sanyo c series.

twoby4 - 2011-12-05 06:42

NevOne,you have a nice boombox collection. Congratulations.I grew up in Bucharest(Drumul Taberei-Valea Ialomitei area). I am a boombox lover as well. Now,i live miles away from home...   How can i contact you?

scottym - 2011-12-10 02:26

Props on that 9696 speaker grille mod.  I like it...very clever.

nevone - 2012-02-20 01:18

Thank you Mr Vu and Dave!

I-m still doing some cleaning, i got some more pictures to come on yet another acquisitions.

Anyway, how about that CFS100? I got next to no info on that one from the webs...why the 80 is so big and the 100 so small? They seem the same generation.

Were these exclussive to Japan NevOne? I don't recall seeing these ever in North American brochures?

nevone - 2012-02-20 23:05

I have absolutely no idea. I think if they were Japan exclusive then they would have Japanese writing on them.

When i researched about the model i got next to nothing on information. I only got a service manual first picture...

I guess they were just pretty rare

brutus442 - 2012-02-21 07:53

You're right NevOne. At the top right it shows both "E" (European) and "US" models. I've never seen these at all before...incredible!!

That's a rare breed indeed NevOne...hang on to that one

P.S. It reminds me of the old B&O systems back in the 80's (the physical layout that is)

nevone - 2012-02-29 23:07

I have also scored a Universum Hifi 1000. Sounds great with wooden speakers, unfortunately the seller sprayed the speakers silver while the body is champagne.

Definately very unusual and rare! Then again SONY made alot of electronics that were very unique. I remember looking at alot of unusal audio equipement made by SONY back in the 80's. They were braver than most other electronics companies back in the day and they tried alot of different things that were either hit or miss.
There were probably not many of these made so it's a rare one for sure!

Does it run on batteries or is it more like a mini home comp system that is portable yet has to plug into an AC electrical outlet or special battery pack?

Hi Chris,

The unit haves a battery compartment on the back, and a "power save" feature.

Also, on the sides, it haves a place designed for attaching a shoulder strap. Unfortunately, I do not have it the original strap.

Not sure how they were supposed to carry the 2 speakers, as they are not attached in any way to the main unit, however i would say it was definitely portable.

That CFS-100 is actually CFS-600 (maybe Japan version??). I find this jap catalog for cfs-600

I guess that that cabinet is a part of all the system, both speakers are placed inside horizontally and that place for the strap you mentioned is actually for attaching the cabinet together with the speakers on main unit. Probably this is something similar like this hitachi

macflyer - 2012-03-05 14:19

The Phillips ""Spatial Stereo used to be our family's box in early eighties before they went for a real stereo. Then it was used in the kitchen. I liked it enough.

Hello Folks,

It was time for me to update my collection thread. I see a lot of single boomboxes threads in the "boombox collection" forum, but no collections. No continuity is shown like in the old threads.

For the last year I have been collecting some piece of interesting machinery, some of them not even boomboxes.

I had moved and space is a problem now so I have been concentrating on minis, or rare boxes. Most of my early boxes are now in storage, along with some new ones that I don-t have pictures of.

However, this is what I have at the moment. Please let me know if you have specific questions regarding a specific model. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics.
