A couple of new Sonys in the house, pictured with my GF1000 and PC55. A true meeting of heavyweights.
Heavy contender's there fins5 all very impressive,Diggin that bigass sonyFH Series, quite a monster there! How does it sound?used to own a couple of FH Model's back in the day and i remember they kick'd some Butt, foolish me i shoulda hung on to them.
iv'e never been a big sony fan, but the more i see the FH series, their growing on me without question, congrats FINS5
Thanks Pioneer - The FH215 has really good sound. A lot of bass. The low end just comes to life when the SAT (super acoustic turbo) button is pressed. I think the speakers are designed with that circuitry in mind. I've tried the speakers with other units (even other Sony FH's) and it's definitely a matched set that works best together. I'd place it up with the best for sound quality...closest obvious competitor would be JVC's PC55/550 units, which the Sony beats on bass but not highs.
LAV LOO - I'd say the Sonys are an acquired taste. I drooled over them in brochures around '85-'86 but never got to see or hear one in person. For some reason, JVC had a stronger dealer network at that time (in my little part of Canada, anyway). I knew several people with PC55s and 550s, and ended up getting a black 550 in 1986 with high school graduation money. Loved this box, still do, but I was curious to know how the Sonys would compare. Now I know.
Really nice. Loving the pic and the silver JVC is great loooking machine. The Sony's I understand sound great, just not my usual style. Thanks for sharing.
