wow - what a shameful pile of crap --
Very nice!! Is that Goldstar on top of Aiwa 770?
And wow - no Sharp 777 or JVC M70?? I don't think you can qualify as a member of S2G without owning at least one of those

Yep, I thought an M70 was required to be a member.
I had an minty M70 that I got from Transamguy77 last year, but I sold it. Does that count????? It just really did'nt row my boat. It was a nice unit, but just not my type I guess.
No Vladi thats that junky Aiwa CS660U that I got from Ira......

very cool collection skip!
well - not kidding , skippy -- you have so many great and rare winners there --
somehow -- the way you placed that gorgeous marantz 7000 -- it looks less important or less impressive than it really is --
can you tell what i mean ?
I know what you mean,my collection sucks without the Vector,LOLOLOL!!!!! Thanks though!

By the way, is our membership here on a trial basis only as long as we don't own some high priced JVC(s) (which shall remain unnamed
) with blue speakers?
Thanks Jared, I appreciate that.

Oh....I didn't realize that 660 was pretty much the same size as 770 - I've never seen them two next to each other. Very cool. How does it sound compared to its bigger brothers??

yep
Vladi, yup the CS660 is pretty a nice sized unit,it also sounds really nice and is quite loud. It has a nice feel of quality to it,and fairly heavy. I don't think it sounds quite as nice as the CS770,of course it has bit less power than the CS770 also. The CS880 blows the CS770 and the CS660 away both in loudness and bass. The CS660 and CS770 both have the same size woofers 6 5/16",but the 770's woofers look more stout and sound a little better and have bigger magnets. I would say the CS660 would be a pretty close match to an M70 for sound quality and loudness. I think it has a warmer sound than the M70 "IMHO".
Really,I did'nt know you had a M90,thats cool.

i do like your collection man. the 880 came out really nice.
Thanks a lot man,I really appreciate that. I love the CS880 too, thanks again....
I would like an M90 someday, but I'm so happy to have the units I have. Especially the Aiwa CS880 and the Marantz PMS-7000. The Aiwa's and the Marantz's are my favorite units. I have always loved them both.I'm just concentrating on collecting my favorite units to have that make me happy and bring good memories to me. Not all but most all my boxes have some meaning in my life, mostly memories of someone who I knew that had one or ones that I dreamed of having when I was younger.
I don't know if the CS880 could kick an M90's butt or not. I'm sure it would beat it in the sound quality department but maybe not in the loudness department though. I've never heard a M90,but I have heard a Conion C100F and saw Transamguy's comparison of the two. It looks and sounds like the M90 would be a tough unit to beat.
Another surprise boombox is the Aiwa CS600,"Daiwa's grail" That sucker really sounds great and is pretty loud. I bought mine from Erniejade, and I'll have to say I was blown away when I got it home and turned it on for the first time.It is probably the best sounding boombox I've ever heard with only a single tone control,no seperate bass and treble. I'm sure the DSL circuit helps, but still it is a great unit too.
The TPR955 looks like a nice unit. I have often thought about getting a 950 or 955,but I have'nt yet. I often wondered about the Sanyo and the Aiwa being twins. They look similar,so I'm not sure. I think Ira just got one from Ebay recently.
Cool collection you got there, Skippy!
I have just one from that bunch, an Aiwa CS-600K.
The JVC boomer at the bottom of the pic (RC-575?) is like a mini M50! The Crown and its 'mirror image' box are very classic looking.
Thanks for sharing!
WISH i could comparo the 650 to anything
except it did not get here yet
--but driptip says its GOOD-
so it must be.
awesome ! which one is the loudest? those are some pretty potent piles .
Thanks a lot Retro!!!!

Thanks Floyd!!!! I would say the loudest is a toss up between the Trident
or the Marantz PMS-7000. But you need to turn down the bass on the Marantz if you need it to scream.

masterblaster84 - 2008-04-12 08:44
Skippy that 880 leapfrogs your collection up a couple of notches. That seems to be the box of choice right now and the hardest to get. Nice collection though, you have some great boxes.
Thanks a lot MasterBlaster,I really appreciate that.
indeed that 880 qualifies because that box sounds awesome and very loud indeed, skippy i would say very close to m90 if you have an 880 thats more than enough......
880s suck

transamguy1977 - 2008-04-12 20:49

I Love those Marantz boxes.
I havent had the pleasure of seeing one in person but they really look like a well built unit.
You must really be proud of that 880.
You got it lookin and working good and she is beautiful!!!
BTW I have not to date found a M-70 as mint as the one I sent you. But i did get comparable replacement/s
Thanks Frank!!! I really like your Jvc's. Too bad we did'nt live closer we could have a bbx battle! LOL...

Yes, Skippy, you have discerning ear when it comes to blasters. That's some high praise coming from someone who knows! The CS600 is a great sounding unit, and you're 600 looks to be in great shape!
WOWEE -
what a timely invitation to hi-jack Skippys thread for self-indulgent purposes -

No just Skip.
The 880 is AWSOME! Now go and give that "sine nobilitate’" (snobbish) M90 the beating it so richly deserves Skip!

Ira, I thought you must have decided to keep the 600 since you didn't post it with the rest of your rusted out broken down S#!t boxes.
MB --have been 'saving' the 600 as the reward offer !!
masterblaster84 - 2008-04-13 16:40
Reward? Hmmm, for being a good member?
How does the 600 compare to the 660? I'm still kind of thinking I should have jumped on your 660.
MB - once we hit the DSL button on any aiwa -- they all sound GREAT --
but we need to not buy/sell stuff on skippys collection thread -- so wait till i get to post about it--

OK, sorry Skippy I didn't mean to hijack your thread. My eyes roll back in my head and I lose it when we are talking DSL.
