After 25 years of frantically buying boomboxes, I've finally joined the Jens Club!
And how, you ask, does one join the Jens Club? Simple! You go out and get yourself a TPR-950... like I did. $150 Buy-It-Now from a cool eBay seller in Canada named foku123.
Zowie, the 950 is a powerhouse! And a good looker, too. A boombox, that when you look at it and listen to it, makes you feel all warm and squishy (not to mention proud) inside. I can see why it's the official boombox of the Jens Club.
By the way, one nice thing about the Jens Club is that there aren't any dues. (Although I hear there are plenty of don'ts!)
I like the looks of that! What's the production year, late 77-78? Looks tuff like a JVC 838.
I might have to join this said club.........
Peace,
Paul Z.
That sure is a handsome box too. I dig the reel cassette as well. A much deserved congratulations to you BB. Paul, you might have to wait another 25 yrs to get yours.

Congrats B.B.It looks to be in a very good shape.
I own the 955 .These 9v DC(compared to the mighty 15v DC BTL amplifier etc. ones) boxes have an amaising sound and built quality. In my opinion is one of the best.
BB --that model is so very outstanding in every way !!!
so- you must now, suddenly be pis-sed at each day for the 25 years you suffered without one
admit it--
Looks very impressive!
Beauty one.
Congratulations bb, that has to be one of the sweetest looking bbxs...a fine addition to your collection. Enjoy!
Very Cool B.B.!
I want to get that model too someday.

The 660 nudges out the 950 on the high end, but for resonance and fullness, the 950 wins. The 950 also gets louder sooner on the volume control, although this may be more a matter of calibration than power. The 660 has clear, room-filling sound, but, if I were taking one outside, where there was no help from walls to reflect what I was hearing, it'd be the 950.
Very cool comparo. Thanks B.B.
