My Tecsonic J-1 Super Jumbo arrived on Thursday...
Quick observations: 1. This thing is HUGE!!!
Before it's arrival, the Lasonic TRC-931 was the biggest box in my collection! NOT ANY MORE! I don't know how long it's gonna take to get over it, but the massiveness of the J-1 makes me marvel every time I look at it!
2. This thing is light!!! Not real light, but I think it might be as heavy as my TRC-931 - which ain't all that light to me, even tho they are both regarded as "big black empty boxes". But then, I wouldn't want the J-1 to be heavy and packed with metal components, heatsinks and whatnot anyway 'cause I wouldn't wanna carry it!
Besides, if you carry around any "big black empty box" for hours at a time like I used to do with the Lasonic back in the late 80's, it'll become HEAVY real quick!
3. This thing is dirty!!!
I suspect that this box has been sittin' somewhere bein' used but never dusted off or cleaned.
I finally cleaned it up yesterday!
4. This thing is LOUD!!!
In fact, it's EXTREMELY LOUD!!! After plugging it in, there was a LOT of scratchiness/volume cutting in and out in the volume and balance sliders! Only today, did I spray 'em down with some Deoxit Gold - knocked it right out!
Also, The sound quality ain't bad at all for a box of it's size and quality! Unless I decided to modify the speakers, this box will NEVER be on the level of my Toshiba sound-wise! Still, for Hip-Hop (what this box was made for), the J-1 kicks out some pretty good bass and will kick the a$$ of anything I have in my collection!!!
Now to the pics... Pre clean-up:
Post clean-up:
^ As far as the back was concerned, I only cleaned it up enough to make it look presentable.
You know, back in 1989 I saw "Do The Right Thing" at the Cheltenham Square Mall... When Radio Raheem hit the screen with his Promax, I said to myself (and prolly to a buddy that was sittin' nearby) that I'd be able to take him out with the Lasonic. To me, all I needed was the tape that had Schoolly-D's "Do It! Do It!" on it and I'd bust his a$$!
Almost 20 years later, I realize what an ignorant and overconfident thought/statement that was!
Schoolly-D wouldn't have been able to save me from gettin' served like that Puerto Rican cat with the painted-up Trident!
I mean, dude thought he had things sewn up when he cranked the volume to full blast, but did you see the look of defeat on his face when Radio Raheem did the same?
That could've been me!
Anyway, here's some shots of 2 of the stars of that movie:
^ For
Petey Awol!
Finally, I had to get a shot with me and the J-1!
Nice one Mono she looks badass and now we know you better congrats.

Congratulations
Monolithic!
I'm glad your quest has led you to the J1 promised land. I know you'll enjoy it! She's a beast!

I was digging the shoes myself.
Like Ford said, it's nice to put a face with an Avatar. These sure are on my short list of "gotta haves". And to think, the Wheely,ELTA is a hair bigger still - but not much. I'd still love to hear the J-1's bass. A well deserved congratulations to you my brother

Very nice work with the clean up. Two classic icons looking 89 fresh
nope --
its THREE !!
mono is a classic icon
A well deserved pat on the back there mono congrats.
Radio Raheem: Let me tell you the story of "Right Hand, Left Hand." It's a tale of good and evil. Hate: It was with this hand that Cane iced his brother. Love: These five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. The right hand: the hand of love. The story of life is this: Static. One hand is always fighting the other hand; and the left hand is kicking much ass. I mean, it looks like the right hand, Love, is finished. But, hold on, stop the presses, the right hand is coming back. Yeah, he got the left hand on the ropes, now, that's right. Ooh, it's the devastating right and Hate is hurt, he's down. Left-Hand Hate K.O.ed by Love.
Radio Raheem: Give me 20 D Energizers.
Sonny: 20 C Energizers?
Radio Raheem: Not C, D.
Sonny: C Energizers?
Radio Raheem: D, mother******, D. Learn to speak English first, all right?
Kim: How many you say?
Radio Raheem: 20, mother******, 20.
Sonny: Motherfuck you.
Radio Raheem: Motherfuck you? You, you all right, man.
LOVE THAT PICTURE SIDE BY SIDE!!! I have the Prosonic version of the Trident. Maybe I will be lucky enough to cop a Trident for Cheap to complete my shrine to Spike Lee.
Beautiful big box!
Looks great and sounds great!
Take care of it.
I wish i would find something like that in austria. Today my biggest is also the LASONIC / HELIX.

Congratulations mono, awesome score. Great pics. The cap rocks too! By the way, don't be misled by the "empty box"...the light 'n empty characteristics of these big boys are actually clever design features that (a) allow long term shoulder-transport, and (b) act as a built-in sound chamber, giving the bbx that "big black empty box sound.
Enjoy!
i have a j1 and conion c100 and i prefer the j1 for sound and bass the woofers have huge magnets and the led's look nicer than the conion plus they dont peak out at 1/4 volume they just stay stable at one level and the rate of the blinking is pefect plus the dust caps on the woofers are about 1/3 larger than those of the conion not too many boxes can go toe to toe with the j1 volume wise .

great to hear you finally got one bro!!
she looks damn nice
one thing tough, mine is different.
My Intersound got a sensor instead if the digital clock and a sensor-on/off knob beneath the power-on/off.
Still, both versions are pretty cool
I really love my J-1 and it's about one of the last boxes i'd ever part with.
Enjoy it Mono!
That's definitely a badass box, but those shoes are damn near just as badass!
Wow , Mono . Awesome Box and pics
Enjoyyy
WOWOOWOWOWOOWWOWOWOWOWWO!!!!!!!!!!

The shoes are LOUDER than the box!
I don't wear 'em that often, but I'm sure those bright-ass colors have people doin' a double-take!
Thanks, fellas!

Yeah, I was gonna comment to you about that.
I peeled the plastic back and saw that it had provisions for an alarm system... I was looking at a clip of "Do The Right Thing" and it appears that the Promax version is set up just like the Tecsonic. I'm guessing that the Intersound prolly cost more because of the alarm. Also, it seems that the Intersound may have been sold overseas more than the other 2 versions 'cause you, other German members like
Blasterpunk, and some UK members have Intersounds.
Now, I want an Intersound!
Anyway, I'm enjoying the hell outta this box! I love it!!!
Thanks,
Kid!

That's almost like my "the bigger the case, the bigger the bass" theory.
Thanks,
JC!
Thats it !!! FUNtastic !!!
