term coined by UE or joe cool --not sure ?
squegg = square egg
won it on ebay today --its a samsung something
the only seller description was "nice unit, everything works " --
and did not seem to be the kind of box --that we spend all week on the Q/A -----
knowing that nobody ever bids on these --they are automatic sleepers
from the picture its got all this good stuff:
cd player, cassette deck , equalizer and analogue tuner --
when it arrives --expect the 4 page review
-- but in the meantime --planning to like this $20 box !!
well I seen this but I passed on it because it had a cd player in it

Watch for "For Sale" coming up soon...
Seriously, you've got a nice one there as most boxes that had a CD did not have line in/out when CD players started being introduced.
yup --cant tell for sure --
but hoping that those 4 little white objects on the left side are really and truly like in/outs
you'll buy anything wont you.
"Squegg" is actually a very good term to describe those boxes from the in between era.It should be adopted in an official sense,if there is an official guideline for box form factor.

well , seriuosly --
there is that 40/60 chance that this might be a good sounding box --
--(or maybe 30/70)
try 5/95 ill give you that.
no problem -- in that case --
it can always be unloaded in our trusty sales forum
---"rare collector edition"

I know what i hate,And Ira,i DON'T hate this.
For a jackson it's not bad at all.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Gotta sound half way decent me thinks,Give it chance!
Enjoy!
jared -- your cool 'give it a chance 'philosophy
is prompting yet , still another story -
when i was a little league coach --and we had a late inning close game --it was always far too predictable and BORING --to watch my big shot 'heavy hitters' draw the usual intentional walk.
so - for the excitement --and to give my 'unknown' youngest kids a chance --we replaced our big shots and put the newbies in to bat, --
some didnt even know , yet --
if they were righties or lefties
and once in a while --with the opposing pitcher 'too relaxed'-- my new kids become heros --!!

does that relate to all this ???

Ira, I highly recommend you take Jared's advice...
give it a chanceI predict a total rock-yer-sox, well-golly, that was a surprise style event is close at hand. I further predict that your four-page review will be accompanied with a forward by our very own vetran reviewer oldie!
Good luck, and enjoy.
dat SQUEGG does look like a samsung....?
samsung #RCD-2000
--its not in the v2.00 bbdb --must be quite a $$ valuable exclusive

however -- its now in my wife's truck -
-on the way to goodwill ----

the squegg squcks !!

yup -- the total or $32 with s/h was alot
--when its wasted
but some goodwill kid may be happy tonight
That's the first time I've heard of anyone sending an eBay purchase directly to the thrift store without even pretending to like it or use it or want it, even for a little while. I admire your honesty!
But aren't those vertical CD players supposed to be valuable... to someone?!? Some vertical CD collector is probably spinning in his grave (or rec room) at this very moment.
You know, $32 would've been a nice downpayment on the next generation of the Kaboom!

Shhhhh! You'll attract a moderator with that kind of talk. (I'm now at 2207, by the way... and if I delete this post a few times to make a few corrections/additions/substitutions, and then re-post it, EVEN MORE!!)

im telling
BB ---i did think about that --like would it have made a nice free gift for one of our members --?
but --it was not even worth the shipping $$ -
i was hoping for something close to the 90s panasonic sound -
-but instead it was that walmart coby sound !
so --its just not a collector box.
------------------------
incidently -- for this identical short money -- last year -- i won a 90s panny wedge
#ES-30-
and it WIPES a JVC-M70 --
so sometimes --we experiment and win .
but more often ............

Yeah. It's probably better just to admit a mistake a move on.
It wasn't that long ago that I spent a lot more than $32 on an RC-550 where the seller admitted to having erased all the writing from all the controls on the aluminum plating. I still can't admit the bad judgment I showed by buying it anyway.
When it arrived, I realized just how hideous (and not worth a cent) it really was. So, of course, I kept it, afraid to admit my failure, and still have it... in a corner of the basement, hidden from view. It should've gone a-thrifting long ago! Cheers to you for doing the dirty deed quickly and getting it over with!
yup --
looking at our mistake boxes is just as wasteful as buying them
Congratulations on the new SQUEGG!
always appreciate your support, mono
Would this be considered a squegg? My boss gave this to me last week for free. It's a JVC PC-V55. All functions work perfect and it looks to be in good shape. This is the only "modern" looking box I have and doesn't really fit in whith my other boxes. It does have auto reverse which is cool, and a 3D bass button. With it off it sounds like ass. When on, it has pretty good sound at low volumes. At full blast, its not loud at all and the sound quality suffers. The tape deck is probably the best quality of this box, playback is nice and clear. Another plus is the dedicated aux in. No need to hit play or record to listen to mp3's or cd's. I'm suprised at the build quality. It feels really cheap, like it has thin plastic cases which make it feel hollow. I dont dig that at all. I like heft to my boxes. Heavy is reliable!
Sorry for crap phone pic and the thread jack.
Peace
Paul Z.

baby boomer, you could have tried what many others have done on ebay (you know...the 50% creative, 50% big cahunahs deal) and unloaded it, with a description like "ubber-rare: pre-production prototype (partial silk-screen test-model)or something like that! Guilty conscience? Forget about it...there's no such thing as honesty in advertising, especially on ebay!
