When taking blaster out on the streets fell out of favor,the manufacturers used this as an excuse to skimp on power and volume output.Years ago its as if the intention for outdoor use was even designed into the companies smaller units.The squegg is simply not designed as an outdoor box.That doesn't mean it's not a nice device for someone living in a tiny space.
We collect boxes for a variety of reasons.However when we run across one thats not unique or special within our collections,it just becomes another boombox in a generic sense.Since none of us collectors is really in NEED of a box,we pass it on to someone who does.Hopefully someone will find it to which it has special meaning.If not,at least it will be useful to someone else.
As for Ebay scores we all have both good and not so good devices arrive on our doorsteps so people needn't be embarrassed.Thats just life.Threads like this can be very insightful as we now have some insight into how a squegg actually sounds.
jovie --you and maybe jared and baby boomer are among the most likely members around here --that give all these 'other' type boxes a fair chance --
and i (and probably all the other members here) -- appreciate your open minded approach to trying a bigger variety of boxes --
and then to report about them -
and if it were not for guys like you --we might all be just blabbing about which 'grails' are 'above grails' etc
-- and who has the biggest , loudest grail , etc etc --
so -- agree that taking some chances is the only way to learn/discover anything not commonly posted about here --
or to obtain some good surprises .....
---as you have said before --some boxes - while not big or high-end sounding -
have their own worthwhile personalities --and thus are enjoyable to hear and to keep --
so --an occasional boring sounding box --should never keep us from experimenting --
the bbdb has an endless thousands of boxes that perhaps none of us have ever even seen or heard --
so - this is all part of the fun
change one letter and you get sqwegg square egg lol
