i was told about an old boombox radio in someones house , i asked about it and i picked it up tonight . in nice shape although it has a problem with the band selector switch . but very nice .
WOW!Nice pickup!I've never found anything close to that in the wild.
Seems like alot of the 931s are having problems with the band selector switches...

I opened mine up and permanently set it to line- in setting.I'm working on getting a generic 3 position switch and making it fit.
there is a plastic gear inside the band selector switch that breaks into bits and they get brittle over time thats what causes the problem ,plus dismantling the selector switch is like pulling teeth its very hard to fix in most cases replacing the entire board with the switch is much easier.
im going to see what i can do with this one

I really like these boxes... Ive had nearly a dozen in my time. No two ever seem to be exactly alike either.
Different graphics, or EQ, or amount of signals on the receiver...
i opened it up and yes the gear inside the switch was broke ,i removed the broken pieces and i was able to set the switch to fm by sliding the other gear over,i also cleaned up the box a bit , it looks and sounds great and both decks even work well .
The Lasonic TRC-931 is a cheap-ass box...
Hardly anything works on mine, but I still love it tho!
Congratulations on gettin' her and gettin' her up and running!
