for the price of $1 per inch --this panny rx-dt 707 --which i won on ebay today --could/should turn out to be a rare ebay great buy --
there was mostly no bidding interest --because the huge 28" egg design is so unpopular --
plus the bashed in speaker may have kept the 'pristine crowd' away
however --since the sound wipes most ANY BOX --
i plan to be thrilled
thanks for looking // admiring !!!
I'm admiring your 28"! Great sound for an even greater price. Go ahead and be thrilled!
thanks BB --
first , i have wait a week or so till it arrives -
this is one of those models that sounds much better if it WORKS ??!
Congrats on winning the cobra-top Ira!
i was very tempted to bid on that but i'm too broke at the moment .
thanks joe cool -- glad to see you are back here posting.
----------------------------
no worries floyd --its not EXACTLY the doomer!!
no doubt that is the top egg in the universe ,it might not have the bass of the kaboom but i will obliterate most boxes new or old in sound quality ,its an amazing unit it wish i never sold mine .i know that it was the top of the line box on earth when it came out.
yup floyd -
i am a big fan of the panny platinums and the terrific bi-amps --
but this 707 egg whomps all those --
and - even the minty ones - usually dont sell for too much.
true ,and most don't understand how big these boxes really are its got to be the biggest egg ever and it has port holes in the back of the speaker enclosures ,it really thumps great and i think the volume knob moves when you use the remote if i remember right.
Congrats Ira!
I was watching this too,but I'm toooooo broke after buying another expensive Panasonic from a rich joker.......
well skippy --
me being a big box HO --like you
its never too early to start our trade negotiations
I'm sure we'll negotiate something....
We always do.
Wow Ira, I never knew they sounded that good, I'll keep my eyes open for one.. be a great camping radio! Glad you are happy!

congrat's Ira. Don't you have the dt75 too? If you do, let me know how the two sound.
hi peter - i never had/heard the dt75 --
do you have this #707 --
and if so --asking how you think it compares to your M90 ?
Whoa!
Um.... Wow.
Im still not used to looking at these things.
I mean, it has a certain appeal to it... and Im sure the sound more than makes up for the, er; well, the um...
Lets just say its different. Neat, but different.
PS: I would have bought it for a dollar an inch too!
Aha...another BMW front-end-box

You're right! thats what is looks like... not a bad thing to look like either
Johnny
I think it would look good with the emblem below
-gsbadbmr
ok -- its time to tell you guys
that this model has a very powerful surround circuit/output --
so --for those 99% that are not enamored with their looks -
well- they sound just as good --hidden in the bushes!!
If your brave enough to open her up,it would be a very easy job to tap out the speaker grill dent with a rubber mallet.Does this one have inputs? It's nice to see this box rescued from the careless
thanks jovie
and yes it has line-in

between this and the dt-75 which has more bass?
panabox --i dont know about that --
but you can read elsewhere on previous s2g posts that the model dt-75 is considered one of the serious 'good eggs'.
I believe it will sound good!
First i bought my "cobra" only because of remote control and to copy CD on tape.
But i love it for the powerful sound.
Congrats to yours.
Good shot!
hey VS --you dont have an egg -you have a WEDGE !!
looks pretty mean --what model # is it ?
ghettoboom777 - 2009-01-13 21:23
Hi Ira-Nice gooseneck boombox!!
That is an unusual egg-I'd like to hear one of these-it doesn't look to formidable but sometimes sights can be decieving.
Let us know how it compares to the grails!
Have a good-one-GB.

I checked my wallet, but it's empty.... What shoud I do now?????????
peter.griffin - 2009-01-14 05:37
hmmm, wonder who it was that had both?
Yeah, the DT75 has better bass then the m90 until about 7/10 volume. then the m90 blows it away. I know blasphemy, but in my opinion it's true
I think Uncle Ed said the 707 had even better bass, I can't see how, but who knows
the best part, it plays my burned cd's

Hmm-BMW...
Boombox
Makes
Waves (soundwaves?)
I like this Panasonic. And I'm willing to risk my reputation and get me one of those
peter.griffin - 2009-01-14 06:14
yes Vladi, join us on the "dark side"
Those Cobra-tops are all pretty special.
I've never put looks first. To me a boombox is an audio device first, & something to look at is somewhere down the list.
This (together with my being terminally skint as a teenager) may explain my choices boombox choices over the years (prior to s2g, of course).

...you give me far too much credit my friend. Actually, Panasonic invented the wedge!

And instead the Panasonic-logo should be a red VU-meter! Like KITT´s scanner.
Alright already!
Yes, yes... these are growing on me!
This thread just might spark a bidding war you know!
None can resist the
power of the
wedge...
ok - for you members who are understandably on the fence about these wedge/eggs --looks vs sound dilemma -
this may help:
none of us have ALL the good eggs and wedges to list the several comparos, etc
but - i do know this dt707 egg ............
and in case you guys are in the 'its all about the music' mode
well this model puts out MORE MUSIC THAN ANY BOX. (non-modded)
we do have a respectable member here with exactly 8.6 times my credibility --he has one - its uncle ed-
ask him
Yes, eggs are tasty and usually not cracked like bacon boxes.
wowee ed -
thats an extreme powerful accolade.
thanks for chasing away my entire customer base !!
I have a confession.
I had one. Gave it too my mother when her CD player stopped working back in '05.
Saw it again at Christmas, Id totally forgotten about it!
Thought for a second that I needed to go get her a new one at WalMart and take the wedge back... then asked myself outloud, 'What Are You Thinking?!'
Perhaps I should reconsider!
Eggs appeal to those of us who are more erudite and who can appreciate their fine qualities.
Also redbenjoe likes them too. ANY RX-DT or RX-ED is worth owning
peter.griffin - 2009-01-14 17:19
I concur
This is tied as my #2 Favorite with the high power Sanyo MCD Series

Every time I see one of these with the ports that look like scoops along the bottom edge I think about late model Trans Ams...
I was recently watching that movie with Katherine Heigl called KNOCKED UP and she had one of these in her bedroom... Sad to say I was more interested in that box than was her.

Panasonic did the easy bit: design, manufacture, marketing & retail. However you, JC did the difficult work & coined the phrase "wedge". Don't sell yourself short
