This week i found 2 nice boxes i enjoy.
You can call it "The beauty and the beast"
Ok, today was the question:
Go with the family to Macy for a few happy meals - or go for a Spatial Stereo.
Hm...
Nothing to eat, go for the box.
And so i bought from a old man this lovely PHILIPS D8614 in mint condition:
A few shots half an hour after buying it
No damages around. This box was sure never in a working area
Looking like a 6 piece unit.
But this is a monoblock!
What can be a better background than the headquarter?
Oldskool box meets oldskool house
In the background was a few weeks ago the subbuilding (eventroom). It´s broken down now. The box has survived.
I just owned the same unit. But i love it so much, i must get a second one. And this one is in better condition than my first.
Working:
The second one i got yesterday also from an old man. He used it as homestereo.
This powerful SILVA 6D:
In perfect condition. He always cared about it
Only the left belt will be changed next time...
But for 5 bugs, quiet ok.
I think the belt will cost near the same
It´s looking very impressive
Together now!
Beauty meets Power!
Which one is nicer? Hard to say...
Maybe they are too different.
I like both for the perfect clean condition.
They was never at a flea, working place or something else.
Both from the first owners, direct to the collector
The man who sold me the PHILIPS said:
Sorry, i´ve forgotten to tell you at the phone.
This box does´nt eat CD, only old tapes
Me:
What a great luck!
He:
Will never forget the look of him...
Great pic´s and 2 very nice BB´s , gratulations on those 2
.
And both we have togehter!
We must compare them at a austria boombox meeting.
nice post!!
i love this "D8614"!
and i love when we compare two BBx
The Philips is one of my favorite boxes...cool to look at and the sound...AMAZING! Nice finds

wow,not seen one of them 4 speaker boxes for many years, they used to sell in uk under the Goodmans brand..they called it the Goodmans Power Master,i think it was Goodmans answer to the Hitachi 3D..the last Power Master i saw was about 10 years ago on a market stall,it was all beat up and the handle was snapped off..sounded quite nice tho with the centre subs switched on,i dont think any exist in uk anymore..thanks for the pic, brought back some memories..
As for the Philips,i have a D8444,D8734,And 8644..the 8644 is huge, heavy and loud..one of the loudest in my collection..

Yes, i think so.
The 6D is´nt a really beauty, but here counts the power.
And there a few nice features at it.
For example the 7x equalizer with mechanical display, the VU´s over the tweeters,...
About the PHILIPS:
It would really look nice in grey.
Ok, the silver makes it solid looking.
And a twin antenna would´nt go wrong.
Also if the VU´s would work when radio playing.
But i think the absolute perfect box would never exist.
Nice score Roman, and nice pics.
That Philips look very powerful and mint, and Silwa is very good machine, I have the same on work place and sound is very good.
Killer blasters there Roman!
I've lusted after that Philips for a while..missed bidding on ebay, received no bids, then never got relisted. Ah well, one day.
Hope you're enjoying them both, always great to get a radio once in a while that you don't have to work on to fully enjoy from when you receive it.
Have a great weekend brother!
Rock On.

LOL. Had the same thing when I bought my VZ-2500.
HIM: Euh, that read discs but not compact discs.. Just 45 and 33T !
ME : Woohoo
This D8614 really sounds well and the tape mechanism is unique, fully motorized. Love that !
I like the Philips and those green power meters!
Equally cool is taking the Philips box to the Philips building.
awesome find

I just drove the way next to the building and thougth it would be a nice background.
About the VU´s:
I love them too. Every row owns about 10 (!) LEDs. But too sad they don´t work when radio playing. Here works only the left one as tuning control.

That's not good!
You've gotta get that fixed somehow!
But this is at some boxes so.
Also at the SILVER and other PHILIPS.
The VU´s only working for tape, for radio it´s the tuning control (and the 2nd sometimes battery control).
So it´s only the half fun...
But maybe i will try to change it at one of them.
Now i have 2 of the PHILIPS.
Just remembered:
I also got the manual from the owner.
But only german spoken.
Anybody need a copy?
