GF-800 and HK-9000 are waiting for their brother Sharp WF-939 to join them
Half the size with twice the sound quality - small(er) Sharp GF-800 kicks butt, and huge Sharp HK-9000 - loud like a monster, but in dire need of more highs
nice lighting and photography, vladi.
(boxes look a bit goofy, though)
Those are so Sharp Sharps!!!
Ya, I just got the GF-800 tonight. It has some serious sound - tomorrow I'll compare it with M70 - I think Sharp sounds better, but it's hard to tell without listening the two together!!
I can't wait to try my HK.
Finally got Appleknockers going, now I can finish up my stuff. Just like you, I'm hunting a 939......

I'm curious if 939 sounds more like HK-9000 or GF-800. I was very impressed with the GF-800, but not so much with HK-9000....
GF-800 sounds GREAT - good highs, decent bass, and very pleasant sound quality overall - kind of like a mini M90 sound, I would say!

Hi Vlad-Those are killer Sharps!
I really like the HK9000-I haven't even seen one of those before except maybe back in the 80's in a electronics store!
Very cool-Have a great weekend-Ghettoboom777.
Hey Vlad, does the GF have a proper handle or is it a strap like the HK? They look good together, nice score!
Peace,
Paul Z.
The 939 smokes both. Very powerful. Clenaer and tighter than either. More powerful than the GF-800.
ghettoboom777, thanks! Ya, the HK9000 is probably the biggest and heaviest in my collection - totally insane!!
Paul, yes - the GF-800 has a proper handle!
Oldskool - how do you know about the 939 vs GF-800? Did you have one of those?? I think you're just worried that my GF-800 will smoke your poor 939
I like the black one on the bottom. A lot of stuff going on with that one there. I am a sucker for knobs, buttons, sliders, lights, etc. and that one has all of the above in spades!
I just moved the HK in the living room - with higher seilings - and it sounds amazing! I think my bedroom was way too small for it to shine - and in the living room it's nothing but stupid power - I almost wonder if anything in my collection is as loud as this Sharp. Big sound for big rooms - poor little WF-939 wouldn't stand a chance
Very impressive!
I dont have any of the Sharp 3 pc boxes yet... I keep looking at them, and probably need to join the club.
The sound of HK-9000 is pretty close to my National Panasonic 5350 - VERY loud with decent bass and no highs. Only Sharp is louder. I'm more and more impressed with it
What is the output power of a 939?

I'll have to check my manual and put it on the test bench as well.
Poor little 939z?!?!? vladi, vladi...have you been in the "juice" again?
vlad-are those square speaker grills on the 800 hiding regular cone drivers? Are the tweeters also cones? That one sort of reminds me of my Telefunken 6670.Also,I'm very interested in hearing how it stacks up against an M70!

vladi's on the juice right now
...but yes they are round, both drivers.
Jovie, I just did the GF-800 vs M70 comparo last night - when *the juice* wore off for a little bit
And I liked the sound of GF-800 better than M70 - Sharp is as loud as JVC, but has better sound quality, in my opinion. I wasn't surprised though. Those were top of the line Sharps - they are supposed to sound better than average....even the tiny WF-939 is better than M70

Please don't!
amazing!...and not what you'd expect given the hoopla over the M70.To many in the forum it's no secret that I was never really enamored with my "70" after having received it.I'm probably one of the only ones here who has been especially critical of that box.
I like M70 - it is superior to many boxes, but not the Sharp GF-800 or HK-9000 models. They only dropped the ball with their weak WF-939 offering...

As long as you don't strip...you can call it whatever the hell you want!
In case anybody's curious - here's a little update. I've discovered a new revolutionary method of contact cleaning!!!!!!! Tonight I drank some vodka and then exhaled on my awesome Sharp HK-9000's buttons and switches. Which fine-tuned the sound quality to the point that I'm simply astonished - my entire room vibrates at half volume. I believe it's the most powerful box of all I have - M90 and RX-5350 are not as loud. And this Sharp doesn't distort - - amazing!
Disclaimer: Take my words critically - I exxhaled enough vodka for a boombox to change sound
That being said, have you contacted Fatdog to restore the graphics to the faceplates?
No need to restore anything - unlike the cheaply made WF-939 models - GF-800 and HK-9000 were built like a tank, and there's almost nothing you can do to damage them

With enough vodka, you'll find (or accidentally discover) a way!
You know how they say - *vodka gives you wings* - or something like that. So I'll be flying over my Sharps like an angel - with a bottle of Stoli

Thought that was Redbull....
And looking at your avatar, you could use a lift!
Perhaps I could let everybody sleep with them - for that Sharp. Although I am sure I would die a slow painful death if they ever find out I wrote something like that
nice 3 pieces, vladi

Yes, thank you for pointing that out - indeed, in contrast with not so good looking WF-939 - the 3-piece from my avatar looks stunning
nothing personal --
just now sending a PM to fatdog --
perhaps he can crop you out for us
or check out our off-topic forum

Now how the hell do I argue with that?!?!?
Let's just say my WF-939z sounds better, those three pieces in your avatar have a better feel...
BUT...under the right conditions
, the three piecers will both feel AND sound better!
