I was reminded by billpc55's thread about his 10 "in-use" boomboxes that we haven't had a chance lately to show off the boxes we're currently listening to (and what we're listening to on them).
So, for old time's sake, and for everyone who's never done it before, here's an opportunity to show off some of your favorite boxes from your collection and tell your fellow S2Gers "what box you're booming right now."
Tonight I'm relaxing in my recliner in our living room with my Sanyo MR-X910 from Japan. I'm in a classical mood, so I'm playing Beethoven's Symphony Nr. 9, and I'm doing a little air conducting while I listen.
In the photo, I'm pressing the button for the Sanyo's mellow, green, backlit dial.
Beautiful box! Love that cool Japanese sticker and the green backlighting!
I just read what that sticker says... メタルテープ____ = metaruteepu______ = metal tape _______ I don't know what the last two characters say... I don't know Kanji.
very very nice.
i am booming my most 'inside ' type box --
the tele studio --
it looks so elegant --like only fine classic symphonys should ever be played on it
however --its now playing a classic old tune "urgent"
the next track -- in a moment is the even more classic
"oops upside ya head"
and
"basetball jones"
must have been written for the tele -
it sounds SO GOOD !!
This is what I'm listening right now
vladi be QUICK !!!
can that lame digital tuner get Miami stations ??
the're playing
"kiss me thru the phone"
Been booming out some classic groove 12" singles that I recorded onto a TDK SA90, on my minty Pioneer SK353 - what a great bass range these have
Last night I was listening to Slacker radio (streaming online) through my Lasonic.
I was listening to artists similar to Common Sense i.e. the Roots, Gang Star, some Tribe etc.
Nice to unwind to while drinking a brew.

Vladi I thoroughly love that 7200 and would have chased one down by now if the FM band went up to 108.

Yeah, but I'll bet public/college radio stations have never sounded so good!
(Tapes, too.)
I do get a few stations on FM - as baby boomer said - mostly public and college stations. But I hooked it up to my laptop, and 98% of the time all I listen to is mp3s. This is one of the better sounding boxes in my collection
Now playing my HORNYPHON, with a few tapes from the flea
well -- now since so few are booming anything =
let me admit what i boomed today --
twas my 'soon to be a classic' sony PURSE !!
a 2008 model - not an egg, not a squegg or not a wedge --
just a nifty little item for the
dare-to-be-different crowd
for one grueling hour today --it hit 90 degrees !!
so - i tooled about town to cheer up the hood blasting "cruel , cruel summer "
I love this thread, I don't have a photo right now, but I've been listening to my GE.
johhny --which GE ?-- the 6000 or your digital version (forgot the model #)
geoffhartwell - 2009-04-18 12:31
i got 3 hooked up at mo in my studio m90 with best of electro, gf 9696 with radio and aiwa with bdp, oh and the old 777 in kitchen with radio
I've been listening to one of my new favorite midsizers. The Panasonic RX-5058,I think it is one of the nicest sounding midsize boomboxes I've ever owned or heard, and it is a great handy size and weight and really good looking and feature packed. I love it.
]
Ira, the digital one! My personal grail, and the one I'd grab if there was a fire.... okay well the kids too
and the wifey
bunnies...

etc. etc.

Hi-I'm listening to my GF-9191X recently with a rare Flock Of Seagulls tape.
Have a great weekend-GB.
watching f1 on the projector right now with the dt707 as the audio. sounds really good.
I'm listening to an oldies station on my latest acquisition; a Panasonic RX-F35.
Going for a little radio at the moment on my RC-M75:
WDVD, 96.3 in Detroit. Now playing "Come On, Get Higher" by Matt Nathanson.
And there's my magic finger (again), holding the dial light on.
Later on, when I've heard enough of "today's best hits," I'll be switching to a tape by one of my all-time favorite singer-songwriters (still kicking around small clubs in Nashville), Mark Germino. If you ever see one of his albums, pick it up. And try to find a song called "Rex Bob Lowenstein." You'll sing the chorus to yourself for the next week (at least)!

you are in for a good time
For real! It's bloody awesome gear.
Juat had some hotdogs and cracked open a grape soda and about to watch some TNA wrestling. A good Tuesday indeed.
Keep on rockin' Ira!
Rock On.
My most played box of all:
The PHILIPS CD-compo in the büro.
Working 9 hours a day
Seeing how the Technics SA-C05 sounds with some classic New York deep house music from the Nugroove record label, via a TDK MA-XG that I recorded the other week.
Sweet is the result
an entire week just passed by -
and NOBODY here boomed anything ??
at this moment --
booming donna summers "bad girls"
on a TPR 955
sort of a mismatch -- but still - all good

Sansui CP-99W with a taste of Bunji Garlin Brrrt.
The sound on this box is always
Well I'm at work and I have my Magnavox power player tuned into the 89X morning x show out of Detroit. Not really "Booming" but it sounds decent at lower levels in the office. After the shows done I usually just stream off Slacker all day on some really crappy no name desk top speakers.
Right now I am listening to my Panasonic RX-7700. Not the loudest box, but great overall sound IMHO.
Side note - A few neighbors were walking around last night enjoying the nice warm evening and came up to my house to say hi, have a beer and comment on how nice the 7700 was. Soon there may be few new folks coming on S2G since they are intrigued to know that you can still get an awesome boombox and that there are a lot of serious collectors out there.
Today´s playing - FERGUSON
Going through some old tapes of pirate radio recordings from London in the mid 90's, on the Hitachi TRK-9100.
