This is the rare Tatung boombox I bought a few days ago, which we've been talking about in this thread in the chat area. It isn't yet mentioned in the bbdb.

I've cleaned it up and taken some pics for your interest and for *TPR*, so he can add this model to the database.

It's in very good condition, and the really nice chrome trims and tweeter coverings can be seen clearly in the pics. This box has a good sound, with plenty of deep bass and clear treble. The features are pretty impressive too, it has a tape selector and proper line in and line out jacks - you can see the RCA sockets on the front.

I really like the look of that, and as you say it's got some nice features. Very easy on the eye I can see why you're keeping it! Handy RCA's on the front too.

Thanks for the comments, and yeah, the RCA sockets are really handy. It means you don't have to be reaching behind the box when plugging something in or unplugging something. They're nicely placed too.

I've been playing some CDs through it, and boy it sounds quality! A nice and rich, warm sound.

I had it apart for thorough cleaning when I first got it, and discovered it has a heat sink inside, with a neat grille in the bottom to let the heat out!

I love the colour of it too, it makes a pleasant change to the standard silver of the period. And as you say oldskool, it does have great chrome bits.

I'm awaiting confirmation from *TPR* that it's been successfully added to the 'base.

I have a Tatung pc monitor elsewhere that I'm sure is moulded from the same colour plastic too.

Thanks Gluecifer! Is your monitor from the '80s? I have an IBM monitor from about '85 and it has a red on/off switch on the SIDE! It's a cool looking thing!

It's from the mid 90s. They must've had a lot of beige coloured plastic left over. I remember scoring it off a mate and thinking "Tatung" when said out loud was hilarious.
