Hi Sinister-That's a nice Panasonic!
I'll bet it sounds pretty good.
Thanks for the pic-GB.
Pretty Panasonic.
Looking oldscool but including CD.
And clean too.
I just remember this boxtype from flea:
Good find!

these boxes are definitely worth getting if you can find them. it give my fisher ph 490 a run for the money. it cant beat it
but its very loud
great quality sound --nice pick-up sin.
these are most always a good $$ deal.
Dang it! How do you guys know about these 'modern' boxes and their sound?!
I guess I need to just start buying them when I see them and suffer the consequences or joys of my score!
It looks cool!
hey jeff. the pannies sound the best. there is another thread in the wanted area thats touches on them a bit
Cool man... I'll search it out!
I love the sound from that bbx! I picked up 5 different model numbers of those Panny's last week...AMAZING!

Welcome to the Bi-Amp family! The DT-680 IMHO was the cream of the crop. I think I'll fire mine up now. And I have the remote!
Great find...I picked up a couple of this line, neither have a CD player but still nice boxes. I was impressed with the build quality and heft of this generation. Both of mine are in great condition and should survive another decade or so....
Looks like its in good shape
So a Panasonic from this same era just popped up on my local Craigslist for $10 about 15 minutes drive from me.
I guess I should get it then?!
like NOW !!!
Guys, i just picked up another Panasonic RX-DT680 in mint condition a few minutes ago, fully functional with the original owners manual AND remote for $25 canadian

Its a CD version, but firmly planted in early 90's styling.... Yeah, I'll go get it.
Looks like we are all deciding on a 90's grail, eh?
JLF...Did you get the Panasonic? Let us know what model it is and how you like it
-gsbadbmr
If only they had Bi-amp back in the early 80's can you imagine how the M-90 would have sounded.

Well, it really was the final shot across the bow for square, loaded, quality sounding boomboxes...

the rxdt 707 cobra top is a beast as well i don't know how it would compare in sound but the 707 is a wicked machine in the sound department.
good one floyd --
sometimes we forget to praise the 707 --
which ,imho is mother of the beast of the 90s !!
Yup, the 707 is one of the best sounding/ugliest units out there...they look like the front end of a newer BMW with ellipsoid headlights
The sound IS incredible!
-gsbadbmr
agree with you, also gordie
sounds good//stacks bad
Haha Ira it's funny you mentioned the "stacking" problem because my post originally said it would stack like shi@t before i edited my post before posting
Now, do you agree with me that it sounds good or that it looks like the front end of a newer BMW with ellipsoid headlights or both
Cool pic!
-gsbadbmr
agree about the BMW bit
but your "sounds incredible" could be enhanced ::
its more like trefriggenmendous !!!!!!!!!
I'm thinking of taking out the guts from my Tecsonic J-1 Jumbo and stuffing it with a complete 707...i think it would still sound incredible and i would still have the nice J-1 styling
-gsbadbmr
should be an awesome box --
except thats a mega-project.
(or too hard for canadians)

It's a VERY VERY easy swap...remove the 11 or so screws on the back of the J-1...remove rear casing. Remove ALL the guts from the J-1...then drop the 707 directly into the big hollow J-1 case...i would also recommend to leave your settings on the 707 set where you want them along with your favorite cd...and don't forget to pass the power cord through
That's how THIS Canadian would do this swap
-gsbadbmr
i just tried that -- works perfect !!
definitely cures that overstuffed egg look
and i put my eminem CD in repeat mode -
so its all set for life !!
"thanks for the heads up"
