Yeah! I think I can make it work if I don't get killed by the TV capacitor! LOL....I'll post more if I can get it working.

Total score! I have never seen the Watchman boombox, just the Mega Watchman. In fact, I happen to have the FD-500 Watchman on my desk right now, next to my Panasonic RX-5150. Not a bad little office sound system
Do any of the features work yet? Have you tried cleaning the battery contacts and see if anything happens? Let's have hope for this one, good luck!

Hey Matt,
I am going to go through the whole box and clean everything. My thought is that there is a contact that may be bad on the power supply. As I mentioned, if I wiggle the cord (which is not permanently connected, but a separate) it crackles and makes some sounds. I did try putting batteries in it, but nothing there.
That’s cool you have the FD-500, is that just a TV?. You know, with out broadcast TV anymore (or soon anyway) a TV with an antenna is really useless. BUT, I really want to get the cassette player and radio working and in a "Worst Case" scenario (if I can get everything working including the TV) I would like to put it in my workshop and hardwire the TV to my satellite system and have TV out there.
Either way, it was FREE and I bet it sounds good. Hell it's a Sony! I have a REALLY old school B/W TV portable that with a radio built in. It’s not a boom box, but one of the late 70’s early 80’s portables. It works great. It would be nice to have BOTH of these working.
Chris

I was thinking the exact same thing. Since we've made the switch to Digital on Jun. 12, 2009, do you think it'll be worth fixing it?
Do you think a Digital Convertor Box would be compatible with it if you did decide to go ahead and fix it?
I would be a nice idea though...........HMMMMMM.

Where I live there is no broadcast TV, so anything I watch on it would have to cable. I spent the day taking apart my 920 for cleaning and a small adjustment. This box is next!
