Two Sharps arriving on the same day! I cant even believe it...

Totally unexpected, in fact; I didnt even hear the doorbell on this one! I jumped in my car, exited the garage, and there is this HUGE box on my doorstep?!

So I park, grab the box, take it in.. open it up...

Sharp GF-9494! My second 'non-777-esque' GF!

Wouldnt you know it? My digital camera battery died at the very moment I get it unpacked?

This is the first 9494 Ive EVER seen in person... Im going to go out on a limb and say this is 'close' to the Conion C-100F in loudness!

Ah yes! I stand corrected....

I have to ask, how much louder, more powerful is a 9696 than my new 9494?!

Or is the model difference only features?

I mean this thing is mega loud! It sounds better than my GF-919 (777) did!

Oh, so you did get the GF-9494? Did it come with the labels?

You'll notice that the GF-9494 doesn't have a lot of bass, but yes, the overall sound is better than the GF-777. The GF-9696 is supposed to be noticeably better than the GF-9494.

Oh cool! Good to know! Id really like to hear the 9696 then!

Well, as far as labels?

Yes and No! It came with the original Cassette Door label! 'APLD SHARP'

It doesnt have the speaker labels though... Can I get the file from you for that?

Yeah I thought so too... I had it plugged in all this time to an outlet thats only on when a light switch is 'on.' Like for plugging a Christmas Tree into or something!

So now Im starting all over again!

Ive spent the last half hour cleaning it up though!

well - even if you dont get the picture up tonight --

its MMHO --that the 9494 with those cool meters looks even better than the 9696 with the leds

Well, it will look even better now that Ive ordered up some of Fatdog's replica speaker stickers!

Its gonna blow minds of the unwashed masses!

I still want a 9696 though!

Its a lot of money... I dont think Id pay that for one. Id like to find one from someone Ive bought/sold/traded with already too.

I did get a Sharp though on my birthday 1982... which is real close to Christmas, so it was under the tree!

Although much misunderstood and unloved in the BBX world... In fact, it may look portable, but is plug in only!

In my defense - I offered my 9696 here first - for $400 with free shipping.....waited about 2 weeks and then listed it on ebay for a lot more....

Im not opposed to making money! Certainly get what you can for it... Its just that I couldnt stretch that far at the moment.

By getting one from someone Im established with, from a previous deal; that usually means a barter of some sort, trade, or part trade, etc. Not that I wouldnt entertain the right deal from anyone trusted here!

EDIT: I found that I did see it. I offered a trade, but you needed to go another direction. I think we exchanged PM's about it? I guess Im getting old! Cant remember shizzle!

Yes, a trade would be great any other month, but now - I pay my property taxes in December... But it's ok - I really like GF-9696 - if I don't sell it - I do not have any problem keeping it in my collection
