All I can say is HOT DAMN!!!!!!! No time to even take a picture of my own tonight... I gotta post this instead. Its like a friggin time machine I tell you..... Thanks Ira!!!!!
Is that an Aiwa Mini system in a homebrew box?? Ive got an Aiwa mini system. I could do something like that and have a incredible portable . Does this forum have a mini-system room? That'd be hip.
How deep is that thing, like 18 inches?? Seems like you would have to carry it between your legs!
I suppose that might be a problem for someone who is not used to carrying more than a few inches between their legs....
Actually it is approx 23" wide, 10" tall and 12" deep. And it weighs about 44 lbs.....
Not a home-brew box, but it is a mini-system.... just a factory solution to portability (using that word loosely....)
oh yeah, spud --
i forget to send your portability instuctions :
if you use that shoulder strap --expect a 2 inch groove in your shoulder !!
and if you use the hand strap --expect your wrist to elongate by 2 inches
----------------
other than all that --i maintain that its the absolute best box ever made --
glad it all made it out there --and that you agree about the sound quality -
--------------------------
the only bummer is that 44 pounds !!
its all wood and metal --so thats the trade-off
----
BTW -- spud is the member who once bought THREE little JVCs boxes from me -- WITHOUT asking first --what any of the models were -- and asked for NO pictures and NO descriptions !!
LOTS of b-lls
joel -- THANKS

Don't forget it took me 2 months to open the box they came in....
yup - i forgot about that --
i had to wait all TWO MONTHS just to find out if he liked the contents of the $$ expensive mystery carton
I did better this time... I bumped up the Aiwa in the cue.
The Mystery Package contents are now safely filed on the 600's and 500's JVC shelf....
if you ever get a sunny day up there --
can we get a family shot of your 'little' JVC collection
That would be the "money shot" in more ways than one....
ok -- take your time -- but HURRY !!
we have group shots for pioneer, marantz, hitachi ,sansui, aiwa, lots of sharps ,
but i think we have never had a family JVC picture
(or , really not sure of that)
but -considering all those variations - it might be the most interesting of any brand .
btw - do you have that big mono JVC 550 ?
they suck
-- but it sure would help make the family shot look complete.
Thanks RBJ for reminding me not to get a 550! Ha!
Great to see this Aiwa 'above grail' go to a good home!
Ive only discovered the quality of Aiwa myself earlier this week with my 770a!
Very Very Cool! Congrats Spud, thats a rare sucka fo sho.
I had it up to 50% volume today... (last night I only was able to do 3% or I would wake up the wife) It really puts out let me tell you. Now I have some explaining to do to my JVC PC-5.. she won't be happy when she has to slide over on the shelf and participate in a 3-way...
