My Marantz family.

skippy1969 - 2008-12-03 13:25

I just added a new member to my Marantz collection. I'm up to 5 Marantz's now.
So here they are, I labeled them so you can see the models and size differences. Big Grin

OMG !!!

skippy --are you always surprised at how really good that 3500 really sounds ????

Everytime someone posts a "family" photo it gives me greater appreciation for those boxes. Something is special about seeing them altogether.

It is an interesting way to collect. (As opposed to "only grails" and "childhood favorites" etc. as a way of collecting) I don't think it is any secret I collect JVC. I wonder what other "family" collectors we have here and are most "families" represented?

Excellent family portrait my friend!

As a proud owner of one of the monsters (CRS-7810), I can say with pride these things are amazing!

I tried to go the family route once... Anything that was a big empty black and chrome box. Lasonic 931 and the like, et all...

I got several before I had a switch in direction and wanted quality sound, not just looks! Smile

redbenjoe - 2008-12-03 14:43

spud --i think there are more sharp 'family' collectors here than JVC --
a few members have almost EVERY GF number !

vladi123456 - 2008-12-03 14:47

Wow, the ones at the bottom are huge!!! Eek
Awesome collection!! Smile

Smilewhoa nice. Hows the little one on the top left sound?

monolithic - 2008-12-06 07:20

Impressive! Eek Cool

Looks like they get along well with each other... Big Grin

gluecifer - 2008-12-06 07:33

Wow, they look incredible all together. A sure hallmark of quality is making such a classic design style and making it work so well on a full range of radios.

I bet they sound even better than the look too.

Rock On.

The PMS-3020 sounds pretty good Jerry. It has seperate bass and treble controls so it has a nice clean sound pretty loud, but not a lot of bass as you could imagine for it's size. Wink

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 07:35

Thanks for the nice comments Mono and Gluecifer! Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2008-12-06 07:40

skippy --you have that many AIWAS --
will you post up an aiwa family shot, sometime.

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 07:56

I will Ira! I have 5 Aiwa's right now.
I would have had 7 but I traded My CS350 to you and recently traded my CS770 to JLF.
I'll get that shot for you soon my friend. Nod Yes

redbenjoe - 2008-12-06 08:09

no rush Smile

i think all aiwas have great designs --

but there might be no groups of box brands that look as well thought out //matched as the Marantz brand

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 08:18

Too late ,check the collection post. I think you'll b pleased. Big Grin

johnnygto - 2008-12-06 08:24

WoW Big Grin That is awesome pic of some really really beautiful boxes.

I'm not really as familiar with Marantz as a boombox manufacturer as I am at home audio - if they have the same high quality they have to have amazing sounding!

Great job with the pic! Smile

Johnny

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 08:28

Thanks Johnny. The larger portable components "IE" PMS 3500,PMS-7000 and the CRS-8000 are made jut like the home systems. Lots of steel and aluminum, large component connectors etc.... Smile Here is a post I made a while ago on what the PMS-7000 looks like inside, the CRS-8000 is pretty much the same. Inside the PMS-7000
