..to look at your box in the late evening.
I just had a sentimental moment.I was blasting some slow soul and slow rap throughout my J-1.
Sitting here, looking at this beautiful beast putting out those great melodies i said to myself:
"Ain't this hobby beautiful?Look at this unique shiny piece of art!"
I mean i just could not stop looking at it and gettin a very warm feeling inside.
I guess that's what collecting these gems is all about!

Nice chromage!
It looks like you're recording something.

i might add that the sceneria is getting more and more beautiful the darker it gets in my flat.those lights on the J-1 are just perfect
And yepp Bobby!
I thought i do a tape for lonely late-hours or for late charming hours with a girl. The first run was on a rather bad-qual-reel, so i just enjoyed the tunes

You are right on brother, this is art you can enjoy many different ways.
yes the j1 is super wicked looking and sounding ,and is one huge box ,makes the conion look small .
man I want one of those so bad....maybe someday....but your sentiments are right on the money....

Same here, brother!
The excitement of it is what keeps me coming back to this hobby. I still view opening the box and pulling such a beautiful electronic in my mind as if it was yesterday. I remember when I bought my M-90 back in 83' man it was like striking gold when I pull that bad boy out of the box. I think I've must have walked the whole Queens county with it, I did not care about the weight.

The only feeling I get when looking at that J-1 you own is one of jealousy!

If only you could bottle that new smell up all my boxes smell of fags lol
If you say so.
you must have truly been in 11th heaven a new m90 n all, what memories.
Man that J1 is beautiful! I know what you mean. How about a night shot?
Great pics there KS. You paint a great mental picture of the soothing tunes from a lovely and capable box. Heck, I'd be just as cool with grooving to some Barry White tunes and a good beer buzz on a relaxing night
Very very nice indeed!!!
I too get a fuzzy feeling when the warm sounds trickle out of my softly lit Telefunken 1M at night.
Yes, we are a lucky breed. Great music that comes out of great machines.
Playing boxes in the dark looks cool.

great pictures R.A and Eddy!!
R.A., i once had the 8800E back then when i started collecting with the original sticker. It was a very nice big and well build unit.Back then it was my best sounding one with the most bass!
I sold it tough, cuz it had a lot of issues i couldn't manage/repair at that time.
Hope you can find one!
as request from someone, a night shot of the J-1:
unit complete:
only the lights:
Ooh what nice lights!
I have no boombox with such nice lights
kid.sensation - 2008-07-21 14:01
Oh Nicolle, i think you will own one with nice lights someday
If i recall right there are miniboomboxes out there with dicolights around the speakers. But they are early 90's models tough
I think I will do some research for the most small boombox
with lighs on it!
When I find one I will try to get one
Love that J1 Kid Sensation.. ghetto blasters provide so much more reward than sound alone.
I'm just sitting back after half a bottle of gin with my new 620K providing the entertainment courtesy of Flashbackradio.com.
Rocking On.

If you can remember it well Felix, how did it's sound compare to the Philips D8634?
BTW, your J1 looks fantastic in the dark with all those LEDs!
Your M-X620K looks amazing, Gluecifer!
Felix -- that night shot is spectacular.
kid.sensation - 2008-07-22 11:26
R.A., as far as i remember the 8800 sounded better.
In fact i sold my 8800 before earning the Philips. But i recall that the 8800 was a awesome sounding unit in my ears back then. The Philips was not
that amazing compared to the Hitachi!
Here is the only pic of mine i had:
Thank you all for the compliments on the night shot

You poor, poor man.
You must feel terrible. I'd choose the Hitachi over the Philips ANY day!
You know,... gettin' sentimental is cool and all, but without
good music,
our boxes are almost worthless!
the J1 is one bad radio
i used to listen to mine for hours on end. it was so loud my ears would be hurting
I could spend hours in your place just staring in amazement
some nights I find myself just sitting there in a daze drooling over my 777 or any of my bigger boxes and even my wife can be caught at times sneaking a peek
They truly are beautiful works of art
I MUST HAVE A J1 ! ! ! ! ! ! Soon Enough I tell you Soon Enough LOL
