Love it! I love mine!
a good samaritan named skippy lol.
Very nice! Are you gonna mod it so it takes batteries?
i dont think so oldskool its just to damn heavy already .i might just use a power inverter or a good ole extension cord lol i mean adding weight to it is just out of the question lol.
those little 50 watt inverters weigh very little -- and a 12 volt gel-cel can be any size or weight you want --
so this extra stuff will be lighter than 8 D cells.
true ira but this pulls 215 watts of current so it would not last long on a small battery.my evil vz is as loud just no where near the bass but it runs on batteries it just kills an 18 volt battery in 20 minutes.
I dont get it skippy reconed it diddnt have much bass then floyd says it has loads lol does it or dosen't it lol she looks wicked floyd gawd knows how big the box skippy used was as the box on the 880 was big enough lol.
like i said tim they sound different from one room /house to the next what sounds good in my house may sound like crap in another ,i think the best way to judge the sound is out side so theres no interference with the sound.

Skippy lives in a tent. No walls to reflect sound waves, hence no bass!
Really though, it depends on the music as much as anything. With settings flat it doesn't feel like much but twist the knob a bit and it jumps to life. This may be where the RX-C100 outshines it. But the SA-C07 is on mains so the power advantage lies with it.
im gunna try all my boxes in the bog for sound besides that they may blow that floater away lol

they are awesome,i love mine. True with any radio regarding moving it around,i def have better recep for example in my " radio room"(den) then in my bedroom.
jared -you are so lucky to live down there --
the miami and the fort lauderdale fm stations are awesome --we barely get 1/2 of them clear up here in the boonies
jaredscottfla - 2008-07-01 16:56
Weat sunny 104.3 is a decent fm station u should rec ira,as well as wirk 107.9 for classic country,i used to listen to them often but can't catch their signal in broward county.
Alot of jamming going on south fla radio from cuban and haitian pirates.
So fla has the highest incidence of pirate radio in the us,according to the fcc,Wlrn our Npr affiliate was recently affected, and it's getting very annoying.Miami Radio is ok,But Nothing Like when i lived up north, stations abound for every taste!
BLAH !!! Oldskoll!!!!!!!!

i must say this is the most impressive piece iv'e seen in a long time i mean it is a night mare with a hande it's just insane i love it .the crown 850 is great but it's not even a down payment compared to the misery this thing can dole out to a boombox ,i'm ready to take on the studio 1 with confidence i know this thing has the can put the atomic hurtin's on the m90 with volume to spare .and it is huge too so size does matter when you got speakers as huge as these are .the sound quality and sound quantity are superb it's a dream unit for me i just wanted a house stereo with a handle and this is like the baddest ass unit you can imagine.

absolutly! the c-07 is a monster, and jams. i can't really jam mine with the ol' farts around here,
Everyone who sees it,is just blown away by it's shear bulk! Pop in Your Tape or turn on The radio,It's all good! Happy Jammin' Floyd!
That Technics is sweet JVC Floyd especially with those purdee lights on! I got to get one of those dammmmm.
thanks guys ,i never though i would see a unit that makes the pc 55 seem light ,plus the unit is as solid as they come build wise a true battleship ,the only other unit i have with this kind of weight sise and quality is the jvc dc 7 turntable boombox thats a beastly unit as well .

So I guess you are not taking offers then?
well i would love to keep this one but you never know.
Now wait Spud...
I am a 'Terp fan which makes Floyd like me more than you which gives me first begging rights.
(I can bareley afford hot dogs right now realistically!
)
this thing is very huge and heavy about the size of the fisher ph 480/492 but alot heavier and louder thats a hard thing to want to give up lol.
That is a good looking box. Hard to imagine it being louder than a PH492. Cool.
not only louder alot louder and bass thats mind blowing the woofers are very stiff with seperate accordian surrounds and big magnets the tweeters also have magnets that are insanley huge ,the power amp is way beyond anything ive seen in a portable not to mention it draws twice the 110 current of the studio 1 on mains so thats 4 times what a 492 needs to operate.
This thing should be in the top catagory of one of the best and one of the loudest boomboxes ever made in a 3 piece units
the only thing is this does not run on batteries, the only competitors it would have would be the sony fh series the aiwa carry compo with the wooden case or the telefunken studio 1 ,maybe the panasonic rx a2/6400 /a5,but they are in for trouble either way i dont think i would trade the sa7 for any of those boxes, but thats just me.

It's really not a boombox of course.A boombox must:
1.Have a tuner
2.Play some form of recorded media or have a docking station to do so (as with the Lasonic I931 or the '80s boxes that would dock walkmans.)
3.Built in amp with volume controls
4.Have built in or attachable speaker(s).It also must be fully functional with those speakers attached.
5.Have a handle or carry strap mount(s).
6.
RUN ON BATTERIESNumber 6 is the reason the sa c-07 isn't a boombox.
The reason I bring this up is that I wish that a new higher power category of portable audio would replace todays shelf systems. With a backwards nod to beasts like this Technics and the Telefunken Studio 1,they would'nt run on batteries so they could meet the power requirements of a newly marketed "superboomer" category.Their basis would be modified versions of the shelf systems currently sold.Imagine the shelf systems of today with classic boombox styling in a 3 piece configuration and having a handle.I have a Kenwood shelf system that sounds totally amazing! Many times I've looked at it wishing it had the looks of older gear like this Technics sa c-7.
I just thought I'd re emphasize that distinction and give this Technics it's due respect. It's in a higher performance category than the portables we usually collect.Comparisons to boomboxes are unfair.
understood and i agree this is not a boombox just a portable house stereo .
this system is in a catagory of higher end stuff like the telefunken 1m's, jvc pc's, marantz's 3 piece units, etc...this sa-c07 was marketed and produce for the higher end market...

...yet we still find this particular model in many
BoomBox collections.

And thus would mean that like the Sony FH series ending with the FH-5 (D Batteries) and FH-7 (IF you can find a functional optional battery pack) the Technics will end at the SA-C05 (D Batteries) as "true" boomboxes.
is it as heavy as the sharp hk-9000?

I can tell you the HK-9000 is a damn heavy box. I have one. But my PC-55, PH-480, 'Funken 1M, C9 and a couple of others are arm stretchers as well.
