Just admiring some of my recent Hitachi buys and noticed I now have one from each of the four most recent decades (1970's through 2000's). So, here they are:

Congrats bb, very nice collection. Interesting...with the exception of the 8600, the "old stuff" have decals, but not the newest.

i have older hitachi 3ds.
the smaller single casette one.
yes i do have the cx200 still. thats great you got one from rimmer so much cheaper than shipping it from canada.

my favourite and only Hitachi

With my heart, my favourite is the same as peter's - the 3D7. I've owned one from new in the 80s.

But with my head, the 3D8 wins because it sounds & looks as good as the 3D7 & has proper aux-in & twin decks:

Excellent! Love seeing generations all together.
I'm definitely be looing out for a 3D8 and 7 to add to my collection, that's for sure.

And if anyone has a 13.5v deck motor to suit a TRK-8610 I'd be most appreciative.

only the tape deck semi worked. i would have loved to have it but it was so shot.
